New Orleans Saints

I've been looking forward to the Saints winning today.  Home game on 12th night.  It's the start of Carnival Season and there would have been one heck of a party in New Orleans!  But they did not succeed on their quest for the Super Bowl.....Alas, not this year.  They did not play as well as they could have.  I'm sure they would even agree with that statement. 

Since Jim didn't get up until 1130, I spent the morning in my pajamas.  Couldn't do much of anything so I spent the time doing pretty much nothing.  Read for a bit, played some games, checked out facebook and my crafty groups.  Wifi was wonky so I couldn't do much.  I had just enough time to wash my face, get dressed and start a load of laundry, before the game came on.

During  halftime I made the bed and tossed a load in the dryer and started another load.  Nice sunny day so I washed a rug

Of course we watched the game.  Then Jim went to the office and got his parts for the truck which he then used to work on said truck.  I turned off the tv and did some chores.

For some reason Jim decided fasting was a good idea and he didn't eat anything until 1600-1700.  I offered to fix dinner but he declined.  So I had a big salad while he had peanut butter and something.  I don't know.

Jim turned the tv back on but I'm not sure what we watched.  Car shows...it was just noise in the background.

Shortest Day

Hello there!  I hope y'all are enjoying this Christmas Season wherever you are.  Today it's winter again here in Spring Branch.  Another cold front is coming through and yesterday was dreadful!  Rain and cold all day.  Neither one of us went out except to drive the trash down to the dumpster and check the mail.  Great day to do laundry and indoor chores.

The temperatures have fallen below the freezing mark a couple nights and don't you know, we forgot to check one night and had to deal with frozen water lines.  You would think after all these years of living in our rig we'd be checking the weather morning, noon and night.  Oh wait!  Usually we're not this far north in winter.  When the temperature drops below 40 we put the plumerias and tomato plants in the compartment.  Looks like today I can let them out!  Some sunshine will do them good.

I had a very nice birthday a couple weeks ago.  72 years I've been on this earth.  Sonsearae sent me a new paper trimmer and a die set to aid in my card making.  Received several cards from crafty online friends.  Speaking of cards, I still can't figure out how to get the pictures off my phone and onto this blog.  I don't think I'll reach my goal of 500 cards as my total now is 283.  If you add the 24 tags the total is 307.  Some of you have received the cards and tags!  I've got more projects in the works but there aren't  a lot of days left to this year!

Are you ready for Christmas?  We don't do much to celebrate. I no longer decorate.  I display the cards we've gotten which is about it.   

We haven't been doing much lately.  Earlier this month we both had the sniffles and Jim's developed into a cold.  Mild tho it was.  I think our sniffles were from an allergy.  I found out that Texas cedar puts out pollen from around Thanksgiving and ends around Valentines day.  Maybe that contributed to our discomfort.

Jim doesn't like cold weather and doesn't get outside much when it's cold.  Just takes care of the necessary things like the bird feeders, sweeping and raking the leaves, black tank etc.

Last week I had lab tests done and before we could leave Jim had to warm up the truck by plugging it into power.  Diesel engines (especially old ones) don't like freezing temperatures!  This week I'll get the results of my labs when I visit my doctor.  Hopefully they'll be good because I do not want to go back on medication.

How about dem Saints???  Who Dat! I sure hop they get to go to the Super Bowl this year.  Unfortunately there are several football teams Worthy of that honor.  I'm excited to watch the season unfold.

Today is the shortest day....from now on, more sunshine each day!  Before you know it spring will be here, so hang in there.

End of September

Did y'all have a good weekend?  We did.

Friday I did laundry and my usual chores of cooking and dishes.  But Jim made our bed.  That was mighty sweet of him.

Saturday once we both finished our breakfast routines and I did all my morning chores we went for a drive.  Our destination was a big flea market.  It's always pleasant driving in hill country.  If you check out the link I posted you'll see a video.  Reminded me of Progresso a wee bit.  The grounds are huge and some folks have storage sheds they work out of and others just have stalls.  

Though it was fun looking at other peoples junk I came away empty handed.  

After the flea market we headed out for lunch.  Ended up at Union Station Diner in New Braunfels.  Jim really enjoyed his meatloaf and mashed potatoes!  We sat at the table under the bell....I wanted to ring it!  

Back home and a quiet afternoon and evening.  Jim took a nap.

Sunday we needed a few groceries so after breakfast and my chores we headed north instead of south on Highway 281.  This also was a pleasant drive and Jim thinks this store is farther away than our usual HEB or Walmart.  Brookshire's is also a smaller store but they had some interesting items.  Came home with cinnamon roll scones...very different.

Once home again and the groceries were put away I        fixed us some lunch.  I had precooked some chicken legs in the instant pot and now it was time for the BBQ sauce and broiler.  Jim said the meat fell off the bones.  Along with that we shared some Mexican rice and steamed veggies.  

Of course it being Sunday we watched some football.  Chiefs vs Texans and Cowboys vs the Saints.  Both games were intense!

Today was just a typical day.  Jim did the black tank and I did my chores.  For lunch I fixed a stir fry of veggies.  Jim took a nap.

For the past couple days we've had some rain.  Nothing major, just little showers that tease us.  Then the sun comes out again.

It Must Be Cooler...Somewhere?

With the promise of cooler temperatures we both looked forward to Saturday.  Jim had plans to do maintenance on the truck while I just looked forward to less heat.  Forecast was for upper 80's.  

I slept later than normal for me arising just before 0700.  Jim has decided to set his alarm for 0800.  The past week the alarm would go off at seven, he'd get up, shut it off and return to bed.  He's always required more sleep than any human should need.

Red beans and rice for our mid day meal.  I did laundry, fixed the meal and did the dishes...twice!

23 September 2019 212 cards

These cards are for the September OSW Template.  The paper is Stampin' Up! but the gold background shape is a place card and I just put stickers on it.  Also used some Nuvo Drops.  Just wanted to make some Autumn cards because It's cooler somewhere, Right?

Of course Sunday is football day!  Unfortunately we didn't get the Saints game (we are in Texas) but in fine fashion they won.  Drew Brees, quarterback will be out for a few weeks and the team did him proud.  And I'm sure the fans loved it.  I know I did!

We did watch the Texans and Chargers.  That was an exciting game!  Both teams wanted to win and worked hard to make it so.

Jim putzed around with maintenance on the truck both Saturday and Sunday.  Something to do with a filter being washed several times and degreasing the engine.  He finished that task and the truck started...

Monday morning and he's outside washing it.....again!  Seems like he did this not to long ago.  Isn't it grand that cooler temperatures are with us?  It should find him outside more.

Sonsearae and Chris are off on a Disney Cruise.  Celebrating their anniversary and having a ball no doubt.

Mid September Update

Sunday

Hello there! I guess I better let y’all know that we’re still here.  Haven’t done any exploring because it’s been really hot.  But, our temperatures are dropping.  It’s been around ten degrees cooler during the day.  Of course that’s still in the mid to upper 90’s.  Each day the ac runs less and doesn’t start til later in the morning.  Shorter days help with that too.   When I got up this morning it was 67 degrees.  Not quite fall but  more like a comfortable summer.

Jim washed the truck yesterday. It’s good to see him busy.  I continue with my daily chores and crafting. Our only outings involve grocery shopping combined with eating out and going to the library.

Still watching Foyles War and Murdoch Mysteries from the library.  We’re both looking forward to NCIS this year.  I wonder how long the series will air.

The cards below are from the July Paper Pumpkin Kit from Stampin' Up!  

We basically sat most of Sunday.  Football!  Jim read quite a bit and napped while I was glued to the tv.  Unfortunately the Saints lost and Drew Brees was injured bad enough to require surgery and 6 weeks on the bench.  I don't think he's ever been sidelined that long.

Are you watching the PBS series Country Music show?  It started Sunday night and it airs several nights this week.  We're recording it so we can watch later.  It's very interesting so far.

I'm back to dermatology this week to have some spots looked at.  Also have lab work and then next week a visit with my doctor.  Quarterly check up!

Mostly Rain and Very Little Sunshine

I think it was Tuesday when our weather changed.  Cooler temperatures and some rain....and more rainy weather all week.  Some days were cloudy and just spitting rain, some overnight showers.  But no sun! It's been very gloomy around here :-(

Jim and I worked Guest Services Thursday, Friday and Saturday.  To stay awake we got up every hour or so and went for a walk. Outside of our office there are bird feeders and the highlight of my day was an Altamira Oriole.  I only had my phone with me so no pictures.  The birds wouldn't co-operate and pose someplace where I could get a good shot. I will be taking my camera to work from now on!

One nice thing about living close to the office is we can dash home for lunch, walk the dog, do laundry etc

The other night we went out to dinner with three other couples and had a fine dinner after our day of work!  Twice in one week at Cheddar's is enough for me, I told Jim we could skip going again until next year.

Tonight we're going to Hayashi with 'family'.  My brother from another mother Don, His lovely wife Jeni who is my sister....another sister Anne and her husband Scotty.  confused yet?  No matter, we have been friends for several years and sometimes we're confused too!  Suffice it to say we are a close family of friends.

Yesterday I stayed in and did laundry (it was bed day) and watched football.  Unfortunately the Saints lost....at the very last play...yuck

Bentsen Palm RV Resort

We left Lazy Longhorn in Victoria around 0930 yesterday our destination the Rio Grande Valley and Bentsen Palm RV Resort in Mission Texas.  Sheesh that's a mouthful!

Our drive was an easy one and we headed south until we neared Corpus Christi then we went west to Alice where we picked up Highway 281 south.  And we stopped and had lunch because 281 is a long road with very few stops that can accommodate our rig.

We pulled into our home for the next six month just after 1400.  The gate was locked but Jackie saw us and let us in.  We were expected but whenever an RV shows up I'm sure someone will open the gate!  We pulled and parked and headed to the managers dwelling to be greeted by our friends Don and Jeni Wilson.  It's been a few years since we saw them and I must say it was like being welcomed home.

We exchanged hugs and some tears then Jim and I got busy.  Jim backed us in without to much trouble, we leveled and set up our house. Once our work was done for the day we changed into our suits and headed to the pool.  We soaked in the hot tub and I took a dip in the pool.  Back home we showered and slipped into our jammies and ended our day watching TV

This morning when I opened up the blinds I saw this little beauty having breakfast in the tree behind the rig

I think it's a Coopers Hawk and years ago when we were here we had one in this area....wonder if it's the same one?

Today we continued tweaking our living space.  Jim worked outside and I worked inside.  Laundry, cleaning etc. Jim set up the bird feeding station, took the bike rack off and stored it with a tarp cover.  He worked outside until noon, came in, got a bite to eat then napped.

I watched football!   The New Orleans Saints were playing and I'm proud to say they won, beating the North Carolina Panthers 41-38!

Around 1600 we paid a Jeni a visit.  Our friend is recovering from a stroke and it was good to talk to her and wonderful to see the progression she's made.  Better days are ahead with more and more of her friends showing up and before long she'll be in tip top shape.  Especially if all of us chip in with help!

Then it was to the pool where several couples gathered to cool off, have a drink and chat.  Finally it was time to head home for a bite to eat.  

We've showered and settled in for the night.

On the Ohio River

Today I'm coming to you from the Little Farm RV Resort in Rising Sun, Indiana. 

Our drive yesterday was short and sweet!  We left Lima around 1130 and arrived around 1430.  Mostly I-75 and we stopped a couple times for lunch and pit stops.

This campground is unusual, we're in the lower section right next to the Ohio river.  We requested a site with no trees so we could set up the satellite dish for TV.  The upper section has tree lined rows of camp sites and is quite nice.  Also that's where all the amenities are.  So far I haven't taken any pictures.  Oh, we have full hookups and it's nice to have the sewer connected once again.  We're staying four nights.

Jim was able to lock onto our Direct TV signal and we were able to watch the end of the Saint/Giants game.  A disappointing loss for the Saints.  

I planned on making beans and rice for out dinner but Jim wasn't interested so we drove into the town of Rising Sun and had us a pretty good pizza at Caudillio's Pizza.  Small place with maybe 8-10 tables.  But while we were there a guy was coming and going with deliveries of pizza. So I'm guessing they do a booming business during football season!

There isn't WiFi here so we took our tablets with the hope they had free WiFi at the restaurant.  Nope...but we stopped in the parking lot of the Rising Star Casino and helped ourselves to their free WiFi.  When we were in Lima we went to the mall and used their free WiFi. We can get online using our phones but that isn't compatible with our Apple Ipads or Ipods

Once home we showered and relaxed for the rest of the evening.  

Today Jim has been busy outside washing this and that.  I've not done anything but a little cleaning, laundry and dishes.

Saying Goodbye

We've enjoyed being neighbors with our daughter and her husband.  Saying goodbye will be very difficult.

Throughout the years we've visited her and she has come 'home' for visits.  But it's not the same as living next door.  Seeing them most every day and interacting with them has made us 'family'.  Yes, we were family before but from a distance.

I left home when I joined the Navy and only returned for visits.  Jim did the same.  When you visit family, everyone is on their best behavior....the love is there but you don't share the day to day life with them.

When you see someone you love on a daily basis you get to see the good, bad and the ugly.  I tried not to pop in at odd times and after awhile a routine was adopted.  But I still managed to pop in and surprise them!  Lucky for all concerned that it wasn't embarrassing!!!  I've gotten used to seeing Sonsearae daily before she goes to work.  Chris on the other hand was mostly at work and seeing him was hit or miss except on weekends.

We did share some meals on Sundays and of course we ate out as families do.  And football!  We're all Saints fans  but we tried not to dominate their alone time.  Both worked odd schedules and as a couple they needed alone time.  As did Jim and I.

Sonsearae and I are like minded with our food choices. The guys are coming around but they're still works in progress.  I think Chris and Jim understand the health benefits but still love their fatty foods and meat and all the comfort foods they've learned to love.  Even I have my moments with foods that I've eaten all my life.

We're looking forward to getting back to our traveling lifestyle.  And I'm pretty sure Sonsearae and Chris are looking forward to the next chapter in their lives in Tallahassee.

But saying goodbye will be difficult......

How's your Health?

This time of year will find us all tempted with the goodies our friends and family will ply us with.  I have to remind myself that just because it's there, it doesn't mean I have to eat it.  But oh how tasty some of these treats are!

Sonsearae brought over two cupcakes last night.  She was sharing the goodies she receives at the post office.  I indulged and had a cupcake.  Within three bites I had a sugar headache....but did I stop?   Nooooo, I finished the whole thing.  Not sure if there is a correlation but this morning my blood pressure was 157/92.   <<<

I've also indulged in salty foods and a box of chocolate covered cherries this past week.  I should know better!

Yesterday was a stay at home chore day.  Besides my usual chores I ironed some clothes that we'll wear Christmas day.  

Jim and I walked to the mailbox to mail a couple cards then extended our walk for a bit because it was so nice outside.  Back at the house Jim headed to the garage and did something that must have tired him out because he took a nap before lunch.

We watched the Saints game until halftime then went to bed.  Judging by the final score they did better during the second half but still lost.  I think the whole organization needs an overhaul.  

There was a beautiful sunrise this morning while I was doing some yoga.  This is my first day doing yoga (again) and I want to continue practicing it every morning.  Along with meditation everyday I probably turn into a hippy!  Won't you join me?  :-)

I lied!

When I got up this morning, no sun...matter of fact we had some drizzle.  Looks like another yucky day.

For the most part yesterday was very ice.  We had some sunshine which helped dry up the landscape.  Didn't have any rain until mid afternoon and even then it was very light.  We didn't go anywhere but stayed indoors and watched football.

My day had my usual chores.  Jim read a book or played games all day.  He did shave


Pizza for lunch, perfect football food.  We even enjoyed a beer with it.  Saints lost but they put up a valiant effort against the Panthers.  We also watched the Giants lose to the Jets.  

Our TV viewing took us to Hawaii!

Cooler Temperature in our future

Woke up to clear blue skies!  Not a cloud in sight.  I sure hope this means the rains are over for a few days.  It was 59 degrees outside....I love it.

Yesterday was mostly over cast with a few light showers here and there.  Gloomy most of the day and that does nothing for our moods.

I stripped the bed, did laundry and dishes.  Also went shopping with Sonsearae.  What a madhouse!  We went to BJ's, we're both members.  Apparently Sunday morning is not the time to go.  Fortunately we only needed a few items and got out of there quickly.

While I was gone Jim continued washing and drying the sheets.

Ravioli and tortellini for lunch along with a Caesar salad.  We watched some football but most of the teams we like are not doing well.  It was a by week for the Saints

Walking

On Sunday's we've gotten into the habit of checking out the Green Market in Stuart and walking the Boardwalk over to the Sunset Marina and back.  This time we skipped the market as I didn't need anything  :-)

Our walk was invigorating!  Very windy and the temperature was probably in the mid 70's.  The walkway goes under the bridge and we wandered down there to see the folks fishing. While we were there no fish were caught.  Perhaps the choppy water kept the fish deeper in the water.

We did get to see an itty, bitty train....we noticed all the boats lined up to pass through but the train bridge was down.  I'm sure the boaters were really impressed with the length of the train...three cars, including the engine.

Up and over the highway to the marina and because it wasn't hotter then Hades I walked with Jim on a couple of the arms of the marina.  We managed to walk almost two miles by the time we returned to the truck.

Our next stop was Publix.  Because we're so far out in the country we always need something from the grocery store!  We picked up what we needed along with some sushi for lunch.

Back home we turned on the Saints game.....not sure why but I managed to watch the  whole debacle....Jim decided a nap was better.  

I saw a Cardinal at the feeder!  First time in along while....not sure where they went for the summer but it will be nice to watch them at the feeder again.

The rest of our day was spent watching more football games and a variety of TV shows we've recorded.  Oh and games on the computer and tablet...

Happy Birthday to Me!

The last twenty four hours have been wonderful.  

Except for the Saints losing!  I think we all stopped watching at halftime....just pitiful..

Anyway, we went to an early dinner at the New England Fish Market and Restaurant in Jensen Beach.  Sonsearae chose it because it has mussels on the menu and she knows we've been wanting some.  Apparently the Olive Garden no longer serves them.  We ordered some and I have to admit they were quite tasty!  Jim and I also shared a broiled seafood dinner that had shrimp, crab cake,scallops and Atlantic salmon along with potatoes and slaw.  Plenty of food and we brought some home.

While we were enjoying our drinks I was presented with a new iPad Air...very generous and much appreciated!  I've really missed my tablet...

Today we re-positioned the rig and got it leveled better.  I say better because of the wooden planks we used but it's still off a bit but livable.  We'll have to keep an eye on it and adjust if we sink into this thick grass we're parked on.

As we finished up Jim says we're going out for Mexican for lunch!  We spotted Dos Amigos when we were shopping the other day.  Just the three of us today as Chris was working.  We had fajitas, tostada salad and taco salad...of course we had beer and Sonsearae made us taste some Coffee tequila....have to admit it was yummy and reminded me of Kahlua

This morning Sonsearae made a vegan German Chocolate cake and we enjoyed some this afternoon with our coffee...it was outstanding!  Thank you Sonsearae for a treat I've not had for a few years.  My mom used to make this for me when I still lived at home.

I have to apologize for these pictures.  Both days we had overcast skies and I had to take pictures in poor light. I've heard the owls and spotted one the other night out by the road but this morning I saw a movement in a pine tree and searched him out.  I was pleased to see a pair of them!

Sunday

We started the day with a lovely sunrise and as you can see there are some clouds...well, within twenty minutes of taking this picture the sky was covered in grey clouds

I thought it would be a good day to make some sour dough bread.  I was up at 0600 and got the dough mixed and rising before I had my coffee.  By 0800 the dough was shaped and rising again and by 0900 it was in the oven.  Helped warm the house and it sure smelled great.  Do you bake breads?

We had one little rain shower around 0900 but it's been dry since then.  When it rains it makes me colder..

It's in the mid 40's outside and still no sun at noon.  I made some noodle soup for our lunch and I guess a warm belly equals a nap!  Jim stretched out on the bed and I flopped down on the lounger.  

The Saints game isn't being shown on our channels and the lineup of other games just didn't interest me.  So I've been blogging and reading.

We headed to Rutland so Jim could walk the mall.  It's to cold outside for him to walk.  Need to get the man south!  After the mall we went to the grocery store for a couple items.  The drive there and back was under cloudy skies but the mountains were still covered with colorful trees.  If we keep getting rain the leaves will fall from the trees quicker....then it will be really dismal here.  

Normally we wouldn't stay this far north this time of year.  Both of us are from the mid west and we do not like winter.  It's why we live in the south so we can enjoy warmer weather.  Just a few more days and we'll be on the road!

Dinner was left overs and they were mighty tasty.  The New Orleans Saints lost....again!

Apple season in Vermont

Pretty much a lazy Sunday around here.  The Saints lost....again.

Autumn is in the air and the view is changing ever so slightly

I've tried two of the apples from around here.  The Paula Reds came into the market around a week ago.  A pretty apple and I like the size and taste.  It's not real sweet.   I don't care for the McIntosh, it's to tart for me.  Both make tasty applesauce!

Glorious Weather

After that last front went through we've been enjoying wonderful weather! Low to mid 80's during the days and gradually warming at night.  Except for the fact that our neighbors think this is campfire weather we could have sat out every day.


Saturday we had dinner plans, meeting up with Sonsearae and Chris at Corky Bells.  She had to work that morning and when she got off she piled into her car and drove to Lake City...then she and Chris drove to East Palatka....can you tell we are loved?

We left around 1700 and arrived before they did which gave us time to show Kathy and John the river and decide if we should eat inside or out.  Outside it was!  After the sun went down it was a little cool but some of us had jackets.  This was our Christmas dinner and we exchanged our gifts of food.  Sonsearae always makes up food that can be gifted in containers and this year we got red beans and rice and some vegan powdered 'chicken' broth.  She also made some yummy fudge (that I shouldn't be eating!)

We had a lovely dinner and Jim and I brought home not only our leftovers but Sonsearae's also! Kathy and John managed to take some home too.  Why is it restaurants have such large servings?  Only one dessert was ordered, a slice of key lime pie that some of us shared.  Perfect!  one or two bites and no one is stuffed...

Sunday was a disappointing day...The New Orleans Saints lost to the Panthers...We enjoyed our leftovers and we could have sat outside except for the smoky fire pit next door.

The temperature is supposed to get into the 80's today but later this evening thunderstorms are predicted.  Another front is about to come our way...

The past week

For the past week we've enjoyed lovely weather while we watched the cold front move across our country.  Each day saw our highs go from mid 70's to mid 80's and it was wonderful!

Last Tuesday we finally broke down and took Boo in for a grooming.  I really wanted him to be free from his allergies and itching....but the poor critter was suffering and all that hair couldn't be helping.  While he was there we picked up some temaril to put an end to his scratching and our suffering.

Wednesday Jim worked all day and I made a pot of minestrone.  I can eat soup year round, doesn't matter to me if it's hot or cold outside.

Thursday, while Jim worked, I finally got a much needed 'grooming' too!  LOL  I hate spending the money but I prefer short hair.  Also made a grocery run and picked up some goodies for the Thursday pizza/potluck.  I think the high was around 82 and sitting out as the sun went down enjoying everyone's company at the gathering was very pleasant!

Friday was sunny and it was 73 by 0930 so we knew it was going to be another perfect day.  Meanwhile that cold front is making it's way across the country delivering sub zero temperatures in the north and snow almost everywhere!

The washing machine isn't working again.  Now it won't agitate or spin....Jim put in a call and it won't be until Wednesday before they can come out.  Jim emptied the black tank

We're expecting John and Kathy today.  They are newly retired and this is their first 'snowbird' season.  I made some beef stew to welcome them.  Jim has been looking forward to this visit from his brother John.  

Around 1600 everyday we have coffee and we were going to sit out and wait for them but they arrived while we were making our coffee! 

 Once Jim and Dan told John how to park their rig we finally got to say hello....Kathy joined me while Jim helped get John hooked up.  In no time at all they were ready to relax.

Dinner was a long drawn out fun fest!  I made biscuits to go with the stew and the guys managed to drink a bottle of wine!  After dinner was over the discussions continued.

Saturday turned out to be a busy day.  The guys did man things while we ladies went to Walmart.  They've been traveling for two weeks and needed supplies.

We ended up on the dock for sunset and it turned out to be a beautiful one





During the day there was a Toys for Tots boat parade and they stopped here for lunch and there was still a crowd there, drinking and eating

They forced Jim, John and Kathy to take some Low Country boil home with them.  As you can see Jim didn't have a hard time accepting! 

Sunday was my birthday!  I'm now 66 years young.  For this occasion the four of us drove to Lake City for a cookout.

We had BBQ chicken, steaks, veggie kabobs, cabbage salad, fruit salad, rolls and for dessert we had ice cream and German Chocolate cupcakes!   all of it was yummy.  Well worth the two hour drive to celebrate with family.

We didn't stay overlong because of the drive and the need to be home in time to watch the New Orleans Saints beat the Panthers!  Of course they have to play them again in two weeks and I sure hope the Saints can do it again.

Monday Jim worked and I did some cleaning and laundry.  John and Kathy came over for dinner.  We finished up the beef stew and had brownies, fruit salad and cupcakes for dessert.

Today while John and Kathy went to the beach we stayed home tending to household chores.  Jim had to pull the belly pan off the front of the rig, we have a water leak but can't find where it's coming from.  The insulation was all wet and moldy.

Jim skipped breakfast so we had a spaghetti and meatball lunch.  Made some garlic bread too.  After lunch we watched Skyfall on Amazon Prime.

Update on Boo, his meds are working but right now he's only getting half the dose and during the night he did some scratching.  I've checked and no fleas to be found...

Again we've had a pleasant day but it clouded up and we had a rain shower around 1500.  I guess that cold front is finally finding Florida!

Just catching up

Sunday turned out to be an overcast, rainy day.  Couldn't think of anything better to do while Jim was at work so I defrosted the freezer.  Not the most exciting thing to do but necessary.  Jim was cleaning today so he was home for lunch and then a nap.

About this time the clouds were clearing and it was a sultry 83 degrees by 1400.

Of course we watched the New Orleans Saints squeeze in a win, 23-20 over the 49er's...that was a nail biter!

Monday Jim worked and I did laundry...and what's up with me and Facebook?  I can't get my laptop or iPad to load the page.  Jim can't either and another two folks here can't either.  It has to be their problem as we can get other websites to open and display properly.

I finished my crochet scarf...I really like the colors on this.  The pattern is a simple shell stitch

Tuesday started out cool but it wasn't to cold to sit out at Corky Bell's and enjoy a seafood lunch with ice cold beer!   Jim had fried shrimp with cheese grits and a baked potato while I had grilled flounder and shrimp with green beans and slaw.  If you recall, they serve two for one beer and we did...On the way home we stopped at Dollar General and Family Dollar and bought something in each store.  Once we got home Jim needed a nap and I actually snoozed for a bit on the recliner.

TV wise, Tuesday is NCIS night so that's how we ended the day.

Wednesday Jim emptied the black tank and I did laundry.  I think I stripped the bed.....so hard to remember all this exciting stuff!  Mid morning it started to rain and continued for the rest of the day.  We started watching the Count of Monte Cristo with Gerard Depardieu on Netflix.  It's a mini series and it was in French...We watched two episodes and then we watched Inspector Morse.

Just before we went to bed we discovered the upstairs air conditioner doesn't work.  Geeze, another repair to take care of.  It's the same problem we had last September and we're pretty sure we're going to have to replace the compressor

Thursday it rained all day....just a steady, gentle rain mixed with misty rain.  We've been having trouble with our kitchen faucet, it won't stop the water flow without a lot of hassle.  So after lunch we headed to Home Depot because I had a $5 off $50 coupon.  Found a faucet we both liked and bought it along with an Amaryllis bulb and a couple clamps. Didn't use the coupon but did get a 10 percent Military discount.

We finished watching the Count of Monte Cristo and we both agreed it was excellent!  We then had dinner and showered in time to watch the Saints!  Another Squeaker!!!!  17-13 was the final score.  We stayed up past our bedtime just to make sure they won against the Atlanta Falcons.  This is a division rivalry and always makes for an intense game.

Jim is working this rainy Friday.  We got some news we've been expecting.  Kathy and John should be here in two weeks.  John is Jim's younger brother.  This will be their first 'snowbird' season.  Hopefully they'll enjoy  visiting with us and perhaps we can teach them something about our way of life.  First lesson!  Live by the number 2....stop driving by 2 pm or 200 hundred miles whichever comes first!   Remember, it's the journey not the destination...
