Just another ordinary day

We're enjoying our life.  Are you?  Life is what you make it and we've found a peaceful routine here.  For the most part we hang around the house and it pleases me.

A cold front came through and our mid 80's went away...it's ok, because our AC is being worked on.

Jim and I rarely get up at the same time.  Matter of fact it probably happens only a handful of times a year.  Today was no different.  I think I was eating breakfast when he finally came down for his coffee.  Not sure how it came up but I mentioned brunch.  We've hit a couple restaurants that offer Sunday Brunch and I remembered today is Sunday!  If you're retired sometimes remembering what day of the week it is can be fun.  Jim likes the typical breakfast of eggs etc while I do not, so going out for breakfast appealed to him and he found a place in Boerne, Brantley's Bistro.  Good choice!  I had coffee and sweet potato pancakes, Jim had the house bloody Mary and avocado toast.  His drink came with celery, bacon, pickled okra and pepperonci.  The toast was loaded with mashed avocado along with crab and cherry tomatoes  on one slice and bacon with one egg on the other slice.  He ate every bite so I know it was good.  We also tried their french fries with homemade ketchup.  Quite yummy!

We headed to a Barnes and Nobles to see what was new, read some magazines and for me, browse the cookbooks.  The drive home on Blanco Road, then Spring Branch Road we saw oodles and oodles of bluebonnets!

This is a single stalk, when massed together over several feet they're quite lovely.  It's the state flower of Texas and is part of the lupine family

The hummers are here!  I think one of them is a black chinned.  Not sure if they're local or just passing through.  Ruby Throats are local.  So far just one at a time so no aerial fights

31 March 2019 87 cards

These four cards are from an old Paper Pumpkin it, Stampin' Up!  All I had to do was stamp the hello and glue everything together

This set of cards uses paper from Paper Source and they do not photograph well.  The color is peach!

Life Is Good

Really!  We all have down days, but if you examine your life you'll find you have more good days than bad.

We are dealing with some cancer issues and while I know cancer with a capitol C is not to be shrugged off ours are minor.  Jim has a small spot on his right upper lung, everyone says it's good we caught this in the early stage.  His shortness of breath made us seek an answer why.  When you walk from point a to point b it shouldn't leave you panting for air.  Next month he'll be in hospital about a week having this problem taken care of.

I also will have my skin cancers taken care of.  My nose is particular interest because they don't want to just lop it off!  A plastic surgeon will be called upon.  I have a small nose so I'm hoping there's enough skin to make it look acceptable.  Never thought of myself as a vain person, but this has me concerned.  There's also a spot on my forehead that we be taken care of also.

April will be an interesting month!

We're both dealing with Jim's cpap.  It's uncomfortable and he's not using it all night.  He's waiting on a full face mask and hopefully that will help with the noise issue that wakes both of us.  Sad but true, I'm looking forward to his hospital stay...I'll get to sleep alone!

22 March 2019 76 cards

This set of cards was for a challenge.  We had to make our own 'patterned' paper and I chose this fun set of stamps from Fun Stampers Journey.  I hand colored the boats with pencils and use Stampin' Up! ink and papers to complete them

It's Bluebonnet season!  All over Hill Country you'll find large swathes of them along the roadside.  Along with some other colorful flowers.  Most of the areas we saw on our drive to New Braunfels the other day could have been tricky to photograph.  No off road parking.  This picture was taken at the library

To all of our RV friends safe travels.  This is the time of year for the snowbirds to migrate north.  Today I've seen about a dozen heading north on highway 281.  If you happen to be traveling this way stop and see us!

Habits

Habits are hard to break and I've read you have to repeat something 20 times before you can make a new habit.  We're working on it!

Just when you think you've finally gotten used to something....wham!  I slept for two nights, getting more than 8 hours of sleep and I think Jim slept a wee bit better too.  Then the cpap escapade continues.  So much noise that I ended up sleeping on the floor for about three hours.  Jim didn't do any better except he had the comfort of our bed.  I crawled back into it just before 0600 and got a couple of hours of comfortable sleep.
Perhaps a new mask will help and it has been requested.  Last night was pretty decent but I slept later than I normally do.  It was daylight out when I got up just before 0800.  Almost ten hours of sleep!

For the first time in days Jim is napping.  He did replace something on the toilet this morning and he worked hard doing the unpleasant job.

By the way I neglected to mention that we also got a Nuwave Toaster oven.  Not sure we needed it but it sure is pretty.  and supposed to do lots of nifty neato things.  Took two of us to roast chicken breasts and potatoes but we got er done!  Jim read the manual while I twisted dials and pushed buttons.

We had some really lovely weather for a couple days then another cold front came and spoiled it.  Ya gotta love spring, no matter where you live the weather goes from cold to warm to cold to warm etc etc etc.  At least we're not flooding or dealing with ice and snow.

If you're celebrating Saint Patrick Day ... enjoy!  No green beer for me...I like beer and I love green but not mixed!

Out with the old

In with the new!  Not sure we needed a new tv but this one is smarter than the last one.  It came last Friday but we didn’t have the right screws to mount it so it lived on the floor all weekend.

Hard to tell with these photos but the new TV is a wee bit larger

Snug fit!  But it's a treat to watch

We are still dealing with our cancers!  Jim's appointment for the consultation was put off another week.  I guess his lung cancer isn't as serious as we think it is!  I'm using cream on one of my cancer spots, on my leg.  I'll have the others removed in April on two different visits.  I'm also having a bone density test, because, why not!  I have old bones LOL

Jim is adjusting to his Cpap machine.  He's only had it a week and neither of us has gotten a lot of quality sleep.  I'd like to say it's getting better but that remains to be seen.  He's not wearing it all night yet so his reports are odd.  For something that's suppose to help him sleep I'm not sure it's working yet

I just love this paper from Stampin' Up!  Very Spring like don't ya think?

We have slowed down on medical visits, but it will ramp up again in April.  Our social life isn't all that exciting.  Still getting dvd's from the library and I've recently signed up for Acorn TV...love the British shows.

We eat out and spend time at the grocery store.
