Cooling Down

I think we lucked out on the foul weather.  Granted it did get colder and we had a wee bit of rain.  But the skies are clearing and it's in the 60's outside.

On Wednesday 22 November Jim had his GI tests and all appears normal.  A couple of polyps were removed and biopsies were sent off. Follow up after Christmas.  Once we left the Diagnostic Center he wanted to eat so we popped into BJ's and had a late lunch.  But clearly this was a mistake.  Neither of us enjoyed the food nor did we eat all our meal...and alas some beer remained on the table when we left.  When we got home Jim took a much needed nap!

On Thanksgiving we had leftovers that Sonsearae sent home with us.  Still tasty!  Watched some football and just relaxed.

Over the weekend more rainy weather and the temperatures are feeling more like winter.  Sunday we spent time with Sonsearae and Chris.  She fixed meat loaf and mac and cheese for the men and for us a vegan Caesar salad.  I brought a vegetable soup.  We suffered through a Saints game where they lost to those dirty birds!

Some of my soup stayed with them and we came home with a couple of meals for Jim.  Win win!

Today I have to have my blood drawn.  Cross your fingers!  Hopefully the labs will be better than three months ago.  Next week I'll see my doctor.  Pretty sure she'll be disappointed

There's foul Weather Coming!

We have been enjoying some pretty nice weather but that's about to change.  Already today it's been spitting rain and it's blustery.  Temperature is 68.

Last night we had Thanksgiving in the club house. Joy and Cheree are doing a great job of raising the bar around here.  There was Turkey and Ham supplied by management and sides were brought by residents.  Mashed potatoes, gravy, sweet potato casserole, salad, rolls etc. You know, all the holiday favorites. I brought some deviled potatoes done up Cajun style.  All manner of desserts!  Pumpkin and Pecan Pie, Banana pudding with fancy cookies on top.  Jim enjoyed his last meal until tomorrow night.

His GI tests tomorrow has him fasting today and drinking copious, vile concoctions!

Do you like to read?  What is your favorite style?  I'm afraid I love Romance novels but I do like mysteries and action packed books. Right now I'm reading The Templar Legacy by Steve Berry  It's in the style of Dan Brown.

Change is a Good Thing

Did you notice? I changed the title to this blog.  We no longer travel and since the content is mostly my cards I thought it was time for a change.  I'll continue to keep ya'll updated on us because that's why I originally started this blog, to keep family and friends updated on where we were and what we were doing.  I hope you'll continue to follow along!

This time of year we can get some spectacular sunrises and sunsets.  I'm usually up early enough to see the sunrises.  The roof line you see is the hotel that this campground hides behind.  No affiliation but if you want to visit us it would be convenient!

We needed new bedding and we like sleeping under quilts.  Jim picked this design and it goes well with our 'décor'.

Yesterday we celebrated Thanksgiving with Sonsearae, Chris and Louie!  Jim is scheduled for some tests on Wednesday and may not be up for a feast on Thursday.  Sonsearae went all out!

We had Turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, yeast rolls, canned cranberry sauce from a can for Jim.  Because I try to stay fat free she had sides that were meant for me, like potatoes with no butter, gravy made with no fat (onions and mushrooms!), stuffing with no sausage.  Like I said she went all out.

We served ourselves buffet style and sat down at the table for our dinner.

We stuffed ourselves, cleaned up the mess (mostly her) and then we went to World Market while the guys snoozed watching football.  Once we returned we had coffee and pie.  Pumpkin with whipped cream and cherry<<<my favorite.

We barely made it home before dark but we were treated to an exquisite sunset!  I kept watching as the fiery red ball sank and managed to get this shot.

Perfect way to end the day

Earthen Elegance and our new Deckled Circle dies from Stampin' Up!

Earthen Elegance stamp with Pretty Peacock on Basic White card stock.  Difficult to see but I embossed some lines down the left and across the bottom.  Matted with Pretty Peacock card stock

This All About Autumn DSP is a favorite of mine.  Layered the DSP on Mossy Meadow cardstock. This was a template challenge card

These cards were made using the Beary Christmas Memories and More card pack. It includes pre-printed panels that make for quick cards! Beary Christmas DSP and Real Red cardstock for the matting

See what I mean?  All About Autumn DSP is perfect for this time of year.  One thing I do miss about living in the south.  Autumn is gorgeous up north!  So I make cards with pretty paper for me to enjoy

I hope your Thanksgiving is shared with loved ones.  Stuff yourself if you must!

Beach time and Cards

About a week ago Jim surprised me with a trip to St George Island.  It was a beautiful day and the drive along the coast is always lovely.  Our first stop was Blue Parrot Restaurant where we shared a grilled seafood platter....no leftovers as everything was delicious and just enough for the two of us.  A couple of cold Modelos and a beautiful view.  We also went to the State Park and walked the beach and I collected a few shells.  All to soon it was time to drive home

The weather this time of year is perfect for us and we can sit outside and enjoy the temperature and breezes.  We don't do that home because we only have one outdoor chair!

Now having said all that about the perfect weather, it changed.  Not so much cold but we had at least 36 hours of dreary, rainy weather.  Even today it' was overcast and gloomy.

Wednesday we did head out for lunch with Sonsearae at el Jalisco.  We all like Mexican food!  Jim had a draft Modelo.   As with all Mexican restaurants the servings were generous and I brought some of my lunch home.  Afterwards Jim went home and Sonsearae and I went to Publix to kill time before our pedicures.  Always a pleasure to spend time with Sonsearae

These cards were made with a OSW from Jessica Taylor. The paper is not Stampin’ Up! I like the template as it makes various sizes of cards

Inspired by Lorraine Tierney. Stamp, ink and paper (sip). Pick your colors, I chose Cajun Craze and Pear Pizazz.
Card base is Pear Pizazz 8 1/2 x  5 1/2 scored at 4 1/4.
The layer of Cajun Craze is 4 x 5 1/4.
Stamp the image two or three times across the basic white 3 3/4 x 5.
Use ribbon or twine on the left or across the bottom. Any sentiment will work

Using retired product while I wait for new! Cajun Craze and Crushed Curry cardstock. Rustic Harvest DSP

Fun Stamper Journey Kit from my stash

Rustic Harvest DSP, retired. This layout is easy to recreate, the main paper is 3 x 5 1/4 adhered to the right. You’ll need a one inch strip that coordinates on the left and down the center
I used a strip of contrasting DSP but a ribbon could easily be used

Weather and Cards

How's the weather where you are?  We're being blessed with lovely days and chilly nights.  For two nights our forecast has called for mid 60's, they lied!  More like mid to lower 40's...

Hope the time change didn't mess up your Sunday plans.  I was up at 0330...stayed up about 30 minutes and went back to bed for almost three more hours

Earthen Elegance from Stampin' Up! Rip and Flip the paper for a more rustic results.  Pebbled Path cardstock for a more masculine feel

This is a OSW from Jessica Taylor All retired supplies from Stampin' Up!  I like to use strips of paper in place of ribbon, these are usually scraps and it's a great way to use them.

Speaking of scraps this card was made from scraps!  The small embossed panel needed to be used so I just built the layers up from there.

Some of my cards are stamped on the inside

Retired Dainty Flowers and current Circle Says for the greeting.  I've still got plenty of this DSP

Rustic Harvest retired but still lovely for Fall cards

Time Passes

And the pain diminishes.  But I still miss our little Boo.

We bought a new TV...Our old TV was fine except we were having trouble streaming Acorn TV.  The App was the problem and /or the age of the television.   Jim tried all the fixes but it didn't work.  Since this is one app we paid for we wanted to watch it.  So Jim made the decision to purchase a new TV.  It's a different brand and the only way we can watch Acorn is through the Apple TV App<<<free trial ends in three months!  So we'll have to pay for it!  They get you, one way or another, they get you!

We gave the old TV to Christy and Rik yesterday.  Our outing had us at Breakfast Station for lunch...they serve breakfast all day.  Jim had eggs, bacon, grits and an English Muffin.  I had a cinnamon swirl pancake...we both enjoyed our meal.  Then we headed to Country Feed Store to make a trade a TV for a tomato cage...Deal done.

The folks up north decided to send us some very chilly, windy air and I wanted the tomato cage for my little tomato plant that has a couple tomatoes.  It turned out the wind was really, really cold so I tucked some plants in the compartment so they wouldn't get wind burn.

We returned home a different route so we could check out a campground in Panacea, right on the bay.  It's at a marina next to some condos. Very small but nice.  From there we went to the beach!

Talk about cold!  But is was so pretty, even if the tide was out.  Back home we had coffee and cookies, well I had my leftover pancake, Jim had cookies

All of these cards were made in August and I've made a ton since them so I'm pretty sure I'll top my total from last year.  Any guesses as to what the final total will be?  Let me know and I'll send you a dozen cards if you're the winner!
