Tuesday was a busy day for us.  Jim had two appointments, the first at 1100 which meant we had to leave at 1000 because the parking garage at TMH is always full.  We had to drive around for about 15 minutes, then we had to traverse one building then another to get to his appointment on time.  We made it with 15 minutes to spare!  He was called in early also.  This was another neurology test, EMG/NCV.  Acupuncture needles and electric pads were used to determine if his nerves were active, etc.  Good news he doesn't require any medicine for this. Just PT and supplements.

Sonsearae had asked if I wanted to go shopping with her, so we invited her to a quick lunch at BJ's.  Jim's next appointment was at the VA for PT so he departed and then she and I headed to Michaels so she could get a couple prints framed.  We wandered around the store but didn't find anything we couldn't live without.  Then we stopped at Lucky Goat for some iced coffee

When we arrived at home Jim was happily ensconced in his chair watching a movie.  The rest of our day was sitting, playing games or watching  you tube

I've been having hot tea before bed to see if it will help me go to sleep quicker.  Seemed to help last night, of course I didn't nap either 

Today, Wednesday was pretty much a couch potato day for us.  Jim did wander down to mail the car payment.  We both had a wee nap.

More cards

Well another cold front has gone through and today the windows are open and it's spring again.  We did have a couple freezing nights.  First one we let the water drip all night because it was predicted there would be several hours of below 32 degrees.  The second night not so much.  And wind! Yikes that was cold!

Still not going out much.  Mostly for groceries.  We seem to like bread and coffee creamer. And we sure can't do without them.  

Do you have Sirius XM?  I just discovered the Elvis station!  It's been really cool listening to all the old tunes.  Check it out!

We did go to BJ's Brewhouse as they had a special on Thursday for ribs and if you spent $14.95 (the cost of the ribs) you could get a free appetizer which is what we did.  Of course we each had a beer.  Jim's ribs came with two sides and a dessert.  My appetizer was a chicken wrap, which was quite tasty.  But I choped up the lettuce and ate it like a salad.

Yesterday Sara Jane called and said if we weren't busy, would we like to go for a mystery ride?  She and Jerry wanted to take us out for Jim's Birthday.  Our first stop was Dairy Queen.  Jim and I both thought that would be good.  But no, that wasn't what we had.  But we did drive around Blanco waiting for the sun to set.  Just as it was getting dark we pulled into a parking spot, walked around the corner and down half a block to Uptown Blanco Restaurant.  New to us and I'm sure we'll go back because the menu is quite nice. Prices are good too, for lunch or dinner.  They do have breakfast and a Brunch on sunday.  No liqour license but you can bring in wine which Jerry carried in.  Perfect for our dinner.  Good food, good wine and wonderful company.  Thank you Sara Jane and Jerry!

I found some projects to finish.  I really like the dark blue paper and needed to use it.  It has a shiny finish.  Don't know where I got it.  But it paired nicely with this DSP from Stampin' Up!  One side is the bubbly blue/green and the other side is the green

The left card is not my best work...Hard to see but there is green seaweed with a seahorse.  Looks better in person but still to subtle for me.  Stamps and die cuts are Stampin' Up!

These cards are from a paper pad.  12 x 12 paper, two sheets cut and mixed and matched.  All the cut outs are from the pad too.  When you buy the pads, all the papers match and it makes it easy to put cards together.  I did pull out some stamps and enamel dots to decorate.  I miss the beach.

Bad, bad, bad

This once a month blogging has got to stop!  :)

Obviously we’re all settled in and life continues. Most every day we see more and more people checking in.  This time of year working in Guest Services at Bentsen Palm Village RV Resort is slow.

We’ve been to Mexico and plan another visit soon.  We’ve revisited some of our favorite restaurants.  Jim has been to see his doctor about his GERD meds and it was changed, but we're not sure it's working as it should.  He returns early next month.

On the 10th of November we both had a free meal at BJ’s Brewhouse for Veterans Day. It was limited to $12.95 and we both stuck to that.  Of course we each had a beer .  The meal was good and we brought a little bit home to enjoy later.

I'm letting my hair grow as Jim has mentioned several times that he would like me too.  The jury is still out on this change.  Keeping it trimmed while growing is a monthly visit to the salon.  It sure is curly!

Boo is slowing down a bit.  He mostly sleeps and prefers Jim's chair over mine.  As the weather cools down I'm sure he'll stick to us like glue.

Once again I'm being bitten by what everyone claims is chiggers.  Since I've not seen what bites me I have to clue.  But they itch and ooze and make my life uncomfortable 

We're having Thanksgiving here at the resort.  Four couples to a table.  The resort supplies the turkey and those at your table bring the sides....I'm doing potatoes! What will you be having and will you share your meals with others?

This week in Welaka

Monday was Veteran's Day and we didn't do much of anything...just stayed home and enjoyed each other's company.  Jim was still battling his mouth infection.  We watched an episode of Inspector Morse on Netflix

Tuesday started started off with fog and at 0630 the temperature was 68.  We had a list of items that we know are cheaper at Walmart so we made a run to pick them up.  We also made a stop at Dollar Tree and Publix.  Wonderful weather day and we sat outside with our afternoon coffee

Wednesday Jim had to work.  During the night a cold front started coming through and our temperature never got above 60....I had the fireplace on all day.  We also had repairmen show up at the same time to fix two different problems!  The wash machine was not agitating properly and about a week prior I discovered oil on the floor.  Apparently it needs a new transmission.  Good news, it's still under warranty and the fix will be free.  The washer still works so I'm continuing to use it.  It will get repaired the day before Thanksgiving

The other repairman was for our electric hot water heater.  It stopped working again.  This repair cost us but at least now we have hot water using the electric heater.  The wires behind the unit was the culprit.  Once he replaced those everything worked just fine!

Thursday Jim had to work and I did laundry.  It was a crisp fall day that started out at 47 degrees.

Friday started out rainy and chilly...around 0930 we made the decision to go out!  Why stay home a grumble about the weather?  We headed to Jacksonville around 1030 in the drizzly rain.  Once we arrived at St John's Town Center it was time for lunch and we stopped in at BJ's Brewhouse.  First time since we left the RGV.

Had a lovely lunch with a couple of brews.  Jim had tacos, either fish or shrimp, can't remember and I had soup and salad.

Our first stop was a mistake!  We both like the REI store and I found a few things that came home with us.  A jacket, finger-less gloves, a hooded sweat shirt and a Fitbit for me.  Jim didn't buy anything!

One of the reasons for this particular shopping center was to take my iPad to the Apple store.  For some time I've not unplugged my iPad for fear I'd never get it recharged again.  The original cord had stopped working and I was using the iPod cord which didn't fit properly. We were even looking into replacing the tablet....no need to!  All it needed was a new cord.  Cheap fix...

We stopped in at Starbucks and took advantage of the BOGO they had going on.  Jim got a peppermint mocha coffee and I tried the caramel creme brule frappachino.  My coffee was a creamy sweet treat that is good maybe once in a lifetime!  

We wandered through Williams Sonoma mostly because I love the store but also because there was a wonderful aroma wafting out of the doors.  They had turkey and stuffing to sample and it was yummy!  We could have had our lunch there.

No rainy day would be complete without stopping in at Barnes and Nobles so we spent an hour or so there before heading home.  Boo was mighty glad to see us!  It was past his dinner time...

Saturday Jim worked outside most of the morning doing various chores he had.  You know, there's always a list of little jobs 'you'll get to'.  This was that day.

After lunch he took a much deserved nap.  Boo is keeping us awake nights with scratching.  I wish we could figure out what it is that causes it.  I'm sure it's allergies but just like humans it costs to test.  During the afternoon a light rain started falling and it continued on through the evening and night.

It's now Sunday morning and it's still overcast but no rain.  And it is a lot warmer.  I think our high today will be in the low 80's.  Jim will be working but should be home in time for the Saint's Football game later this afternoon.

Rain

Jim worked Sunday and that evening we has some sprinkles and during the night more gentle rain fell upon us.  Not even loud enough to hear in the bedroom.

Monday I got up to overcast skies and drizzly rain. Jim is working today also.  Meanwhile at home I did laundry and baked blueberry mini loaves.  First time trying my new mini loaf pan.  It make 4 little loaves. They turned out well.  The two center ones browned more than the other ones so my baking time has to be tweaked.

Tuesday I was up around 0600 having slept quite well. I've been having trouble sleeping thee past couple of month's.  My back and hips don't seem to like my mattress.  Could be caused by lack of exercise, age, poor posture, etc.  So I've been working on it.  Started walking every day but that hasn't happened lately.  Last week there were two days when we had to be somewhere early, then last Thursday I got bit, not once, but three times on my left foot and couldn't get a shoe on.  Now it's raining...

We left around 1100 for Jacksonville.  My followup appointment was at 1450. It takes about an hour and a half to get there.  The rain had moved off and we followed it to Jacksonville.  By the time we got to the restaurant it was just a fine mist.

Jim found a Japanese restaurant for us to try, Wasabi Japanese Steakhouse in the St John's Town Center. We sat at the hibachi grill and enjoyed a lovely lunch.  We both had green tea and miso soup for starters.  Jim ordered steak and shrimp while I ordered just veggies.  Both meals came with fried rice, vegetables and sweet carrots. Everything was tasty and we'd go again.  We both recalled Hayashi's in Mission, Texas where we've shared many a meal with our friends.

After lunch we had time to kill before my appointment so we headed to Barnes and Nobles just across the street.  This shopping center has a lot of restaurants and stores that we're familiar with.  Even a BJ's Brewhouse!

Jim settled in with magazines while I wandered around looking at the new Nook tablets and cookbooks.  I did find a couple magazines to bring home.

My appointment went well and the Doctor thinks I should have my right eye cleared up before new glasses are bought.  He will send that recommendation to the VA and we'll see what they say.

The drive home during rush hour traffic on I-95 was interesting.  Once we got on Highway 207 the traffic was less but we ran into some heavy rain.   All of this activity and rainy weather made for a long day.

Boo was quite happy to see us when we got home around 1830! I got him fed and then showered just relaxing in the warm water.  Then it was Jim's turn.  We each had a warm beverage and some blueberry bread and settled in for the evening watching both NCIS shows.

By 2200 we both were ready for bed and looked forward to sleeping well.  But Boo had other plans....I think he slept all day and wasn't the least bit sleepy so it took awhile for everyone to settle in.

During the night I heard the gentle rain and this morning when I got up at 0700 it was still rainy and drippy outside.  I guess I won't be walking again...

We have rain!

Jim worked last week Monday - Friday and the poor man had to endure the cold weather. Last week I also had my 64th birthday! Tuesday evening we went to BJ's Brewhouse for a dinner with beer tasting event. What fun! I'm not sure how many different beers we tasted 7-9 at least and then when the event ended we got a pint of our favorite! The food consisted of Buffalo wontons, Portobello pizza, Thai Shrimp wraps, pork chop with potatoes and green beans and a berry burst dessert.

We sat with Tanya, a lovely young lady and we had a good time talking to her and learning more about the area. We slept very well that night!

On Thursday I had a spa day at Spagos with Anne and Susie. Of course it wasn't an all day event but Anne, Susie and I each got our hair cut and styled. Susie and I had pedicures and had them polished with red polish and sparkles! Afterwards we had lunch at Ron Fu's Mongolian Grill in the same building. Also had stops at Harbor Freight, Sprouts and HEB. Whew it tires me out just reading it! But we had a lot of fun...

Saturday the rains started and it rained all weekend. I'm not sure of the totals but we had over 2 inches of rain on Saturday alone. It's still cold and gloomy today but it seems to be rain free so far.

Jim had a doctor appointment early this morning so we hit the road before 0800. After that we headed to IHOP for breakfast....not sure we'll do that again. But it was close by and easy to get to. Then a visit to the lab for blood work. Next Monday he has yet another appointment for an endoscopy. Seems he has acid reflux :-(

It's December already!

I'm not sure where the time goes. Our daily lives are pretty much the same. We get up, do chores and go to bed. In between we read, watch TV and play games on our computers. Every few days we go shopping. Pretty boring!

We did go for a ride on the bike trail the other day and I finally made it to Conway. Now this is an achievement for me. The round trip is almost 10 miles but I haven't done much riding and my first attempt ended short of that goal. In my defense it was very warm the first time I tried and I don't like hot weather.

December first saw the largest influx of rigs for our resort. All day long they were coming in. It's almost like going to an RV show and seeing all the different sizes, styles and color of rigs! We now have neighbors on both sides of us. Still the resort has a few empty sites. I know some folks won't arrive until after Christmas.

Last Sunday we went out to lunch at BJ's where we met up with old friends and new friends. Marilyn and Ed Dray arrived before us bringing Janet and Bob (new to full timing) and while we caught up in the chilly wind Joyce and Roger showed up. We four couples have DRV Mobile Suites. So it was a mini rally! LOL We had a grand time eating and chatting.

Thanksgiving Day

First a wee bit of catching up. Last Sunday we had a date for lunch at BJ's Brewhouse with Marilyn and Ed Dray. When we pulled in they were standing there waiting for us and I must say it was nice to see our friends again. We've spent time with them in Colorado Springs the past three summers.

We each ordered flatbread pizzas and had a tall cold beer to wash it down. Mostly we enjoyed the conversation and just being together. They're staying at Llano Grande for the winter season so we should see them again.

Jim worked Monday and Tuesday getting the kayaks ready for paddling trips. Yesterday he just chilled most of the day reading or using the computer. I made a cherry apple pie and the cranberry sauce for our Thanksgiving dinner.

This morning when I got up we had wind and cloudy skies. Soon the clouds cleared, the sun came out and it sure warmed up quickly. I had the turducken in the oven shortly after 0900. Then I got to work chopping and slicing the ingredients for the mushroom stuffing. Once I got the veggies sauteed I put everything into the slow cooker. Jim and I had to sample it for lunch around noon!

Because it was HOT and windy we had our dinner indoors. Anne recently purchased some new dishes and the clear glass looks lovely on my new tablecloth!

We ladies worked on our menu and each of us supplied several dishes and everything was tasty! Of course we had to much food but that's what Thanksgiving is for! Turducken, ham, mashed potatoes and two gravies, two cranberry dishes, carrots, brussel sprouts, butternut squash, some olives and artichoke hearts.

Three desserts! Anne made a mincemeat pie, Amy made a lemon bundt cake and I made a cherry apple pie.

Some of us had wine and most of us had seconds! It was a good dinner with good friends!

Boo didn't get to join us and I'm sure the wonderful cooking smells frustrated him. He didn't get to sample much of it!

Jim and I came home around 1600, fed Boo and I did the clean up and dishes. The Saints were playing Dallas and we watched the game and it came down to nail biting win for the Saints! Jim spent some time with other work campers decorating outside the office. I passed and apparently missed out on the eggnog

The day ended with a pretty sunset so I'll leave you with these pictures. I hope however you celebrated this day you enjoyed it. Jim and I have much we are thankful for, each other, our friends and our health. Not much more could we ask for!
