Little bit of this and that

Tuesday I wanted to pick up last minute items at the grocery store so we headed into Stuart and to walk the river walk.  It was a little bit warmer this time but still very pleasant. We came across this Great Blue Heron struggling with his dinner so we stopped and watched until he swallowed it.  The fish was still alive and the heron deliberately dropped it and when it wiggled he whacked it with his beak!  Stunned it enough to turn it so he could swallow in head first

Nature up close and personal.

After our walk we headed downtown and walked some more.  I wanted to check out some of the shops.  Oddly enough I haven't seen all of them!  I found a lot of things worthy or purchase, but nothing I needed.

By this time we needed some lunch and stopped in at Duffy's. As it turns out I had a freebie on the loyalty card so we got Dolphin Fingers (fish sticks) to start with.  I forget what Jim had but I had shrimp scampi bringing half of it home.

A stop at Publix was next, then home.  Once home Jim took a nap and when he got up I continued with laundry.  I had stripped the bed before we left, so I finished with that and got the bed made, slowly.

Wednesday was just a day at home.  Jim did the breakfast dishes.  I got my presents ready for Christmas which took all of ten minutes.  :-)  I generally don't wrap gifts.  I use reusable bags and tissue.

I fixed some Gardein Turkey Cutlets with gravy, potatoes and peas for our lunch.  Jim took a nap, I guess fake turkey makes you sleepy too.

The sun will come out tomorrow

Saturday was a very wet day!  Bands of showers kept rolling through keeping us indoors all day.  When I got up I dashed out with the trash as it was close to overflowing.  Neither one of us did much walking, barely getting in 1000 steps.  Haven't looked at the forecast but I do see slivers of blue sky!

I did my usual chores of laundry, bed making and dishes.  I think I neglected to say Jim did dishes for me a couple days ago and he emptied the black tank.

I've been having fruit smoothies for breakfast, just because I can.  I usually have leftovers rather than traditional breakfast foods.  Who decided oatmeal, pancakes, bacon and eggs should be consumed in the morning?

For our midday meal I fixed garlic smashed potatoes, shoe peg corn, took some leftover Brussels sprouts and braised them in some butter and garlic and Gardein Turk'y Cutlets and gravy.  Made a big mess in the kitchen but it sure was tasty.  Of course I had to clean it up.

Jim had his nose stuck in a book most of the afternoon. I did some reading and game playing.  By the time I started reading Jim turned on a movie so I went upstairs to read.

Between showers I managed to get to the mailbox.  Our mail from Escapees had been delivered and I wanted it!  As it turned out there wasn't anything for me.

Boo is still under the weather so to speak.  He's fine if I keep him dosed up.  He didn't eat his breakfast yesterday so he scarfed down his dinner.  His hot spot is bigger this morning.

Jim kept finding reruns on TV, eventually stopping on Alaska programming.  An Alaskan vet show and some railroad shows.  All that snow made be grateful for the warm rain we've been having...

I had pea soup for dinner while Jim chose a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

All is right in our soggy world

Day of recovery

Who would have thought that walking could cause such discomfort?  Both of us were stiff and sore after the Sunday walking challenge.  I guess we need to sit less and walk more!

I did my normal chores of laundry, bed making and dishes in the morning.  Even though I was stiff I found sitting uncomfortable and kept popping up every thirty minutes or so.

For our midday meal I fixed onions and mushrooms sauteed and tossed in a couple Gardein  beefless burgers, also steamed some Brussels sprouts.  For more added color I chopped up some fresh Campari Tomatoes

After lunch Jim took a nap.  I took out the trash and brought the mail and packages in.  When Jim got up we walked Boo then Jim did the dishes while I gave Boo a bath.  Not sure why but Boo has been scratching a lot lately.  I can't find any specific problem but I used a medicated shampoo hoping that will ease his itching.

Sat around playing games and watching TV all evening.  I made us a salad for dinner
