Free to roam about?!?

Starting May 1st more businesses will be opening. Our governor already opened parks as long as social distancing was maintained. Oh and the golf courses. BUT no golf carts.  Obviously everyone still needs to take precautions. I’m getting emails from businesses that are ecstatic about this let up. Restaurants are saying they’re going to use the reservation system because tables will be fewer.  I’m pleased that people who have been without paychecks will get to go back to work. Curbside and delivery will also be offered

Jim has been without his Fitbit watch for about six weeks.  Not sure why it quit. To many buttons pushed? Anyway, he called and was walked through the solution yesterday.  Today he’s like a child with a new toy.  He’s on a third walk!

I must be napping more because when he returned he was surprised to see me up.  I probably should explain.  Since this passing of gallbladder stones I have good days and bad.  Perhaps I’m passing small stones and that is the reason for some pains I get.  I am eating very small meals and avoiding fats.  But every now and then I overeat or eat something with to much fat.  This causes my stomach or back to hurt. So I lay down to ease the pain.  I know I’m taking more Tylenol!  Some days it's difficult for me to think of something to fix for our meals.

My goal again this year is to make 500 cards.

Staying Home

Is really getting to be tiresome.  Seriously, we do stay home alot but spur of the moment happingings aren't happening!  Jim doesn't want to go out at all.  Just grocery stores and maybe a drug store.  And then it's in and out quickly.

So we're following the stay in place order, washing our hands and wearing a face mask when out and about in public.  Sonsearae sent me two amusing face masks!  Frogs and Flamingoes

Oh and doctor visits.  After a year (of forgetting) Jim finally saw an oncologist for his lung cancer.  Apparently all is well but he's had an mri so they'll have a record and today a lung test.  My appointments keep being rescheduled.  At least the folks who do the scheduling have a job...I wonder if they can work from home?

Yesterday Jim was on the roof.  We bought some squirell bait and he put it in the air condintioning units.  Hopefully this will deter them from entering and chewing on the wires.  He also was pressure washing, still needs to finish that.  I can't seem to get him to part with money to have someone else do this for us.  The whole rig needs cleaning and waxing.

Tomorrow more work will be done on the truck.  We'll be going local and using our stimulus check.  Hopefully your money has arrived and you're spending it wisely if need be.  We have plenty of food and it would seem our stores are able to restock the items that panic buyers thought they needed a years worth of.  While I can't really stockpile much I do usually keep us supplied.  Our only lack was our preferred coffee creamers, but we made do.  And we now have several options in the fridge!

My goal again this year is to make 500 cards.

This set of cards is from Jessica Taylor. It's a OSW (one sheet wonder) for the month of April.  You take a 12 x 12 sheet of double sided DSP (designer series paper), cut per the directions and get all these cards!  More if you break up the triangle pieces.  The colors are Melon Mambo ink, olive ink, black and white cardstock.  Silver thread, sequins and bling to decorate.  All supplies are Stampin' Up!

The square card is roughly 4 x 4 using both sides of the paper.  The birthday card also uses both sides of the paper.  The stamp is from a year ago, a Paper Pumpkin kit

I like how this card turned out.  Using two of the same side triangles and leaving a blank space between

Upper left I dry embossed a small piece of white cardstock to break up the exspanse of the card front. More silver thread and sequins.  On the upper right I used a die to make the honeycomb pattern and used two smaller pieces of paper.  Butterlies and bling! Another 4x4 card on the bottom

This is a pocket card!  The DSP is folded then adhered to another piece of cardstock.  The thinking of you is the insert with enough space to write a note

From five years ago. We were still in south Florida with Chris and Sonsearae

Where were you?  We don't travel as much anymore and I do miss it.  Just don't miss the packing up and setting up it entails.  I'm pretty sure we'd like to do more traveling but I'd need a smaller rig for that!

I hope your area is a safe one.  We're pretty isolated here and our county has few cases.  The San Antonio area has it's fair share.  I wonder how long this Covid-19 will be around?  Some major areas around the country are really struggling with it.  Not to mention other countries.

Not Very Much Going On

We’re just staying home and doing our thing.  Jim mostly reads, plays games and watches YouTube.  Oh and he sleeps.  When I ask, he will do something. And now and then he’ll do the dishes and fold laundry.

Daily there are meals....some more elaborate than others. Today roast beef, mashed potatoes, corn and bbq beans. Jim will be eating beef for awhile! Laundry and dishes etc etc etc.

And for fun I pass gallstones! I celebrated Easter in pain. I’m thankful for the pain pills I got the last time I visited the emergency room.  Helped with the pain and my recovery time was less.  I had an mri of my pancreas and the whole bile system last week. No one’s called so I guess it’s ok for now.  While at the VA they gave us each a mask.

Jim sees an oncologist this week.  First time since the removal of his upper right lobe.  Gee, that was a year ago.  Groceries (about once a week) and dr visits are the highlight of our 'stay at home' order.

My goal again this year is to make 500 cards.

I found some leftover pieces of cardstock and patterned paper and put these cards together.  All Stampin’ Up! Products except for the ‘thinking of you’ die cuts.

So what are you doing to stay busy? I've several card projects to keep me busy.

Rainy Day

Two days ago it was sunny and nice. We had a grocery list as long as my arm....well, maybe just my hand. So off we went to get some preferred products. Alas, not my coffee creamer. Insert big sigh here.  HEB was so much fun!  Jim dropped me off and said take your time, which I did.  First off, at the entrance there were several employees handing out wipes for the buggy’s and before you could enter a nice young man asked me to use hand sanitizer.

My first stop is always produce and there were no empty spots. I did have to buy cherry tomatoes because they were out of compari tomatoes, our preferred for salads.  Maybe 15 people milling around shopping.  For a treat I got us each some sushi, mine vegan and Jim had California roll.

No one handing out samples, no cheese tasting. I saw some spaces in the lunch meat section.  Signage! Just about everywhere. Limits on how many you can get.  Sensible.  No eggs!  I still had some from my delivery awhile back. Checking out there were signs on the floor.  Maintaining six feet between shoppers and don’t approach until cashiers signal you. You remain at the register while your groceries are being bagged, again, to maintain distance. And almost all registers were open!  I wasn’t aware of it when I entered the store but one door was an entrance and the other was the exit. At both doors the employees greeted us and thanked us for coming. At each register was of list of out of stock items and expected delivery dates.  Quite impressive with how they’re dealing with this.  Only a handful of shoppers were wearing gloves and masks.  And way to many complaining about the lack of items.  I mean seriously, no canned green beans?  Cracks me up.  Not sure how we’ll survive without cut green beans!

Wednesday I was out of bed early.  Experiencing pain in my back and stomach like when I passed a gallstone.  Fortunately I didn’t.  But the whole day I was out of sorts, laying down often.  Wasted a perfectly sunny day! Went to bed at my usual time and slept all night.

Today is rainy so we gamed and YouTubed it.

This little guy lives next door!  Friendly too, we both gave him (her) a scratch which it enjoyed

I didn't notice these last spring.  White Iris planted under the oaks near the office.  Just about past

This is a Sheetload of cards for March from Call me Crafty Al.  I picked three coordinating papers from a 12 x 12 pad and cut all the paper yesterday morning while being uncomfortable.  Then yesterday when Jim napped I glued all the papers onto the Stampin' Up! cardstock.  This morning I stamped the butterflies, punched them out and adhered it to the focal point with sentiment.
