I'm tired of it.
Every year around this time I get tired of south Texas and look forward to moving on. A classic case of hitch itch!
We are making plans and talking about our trip east to visit Sonsearae and Chris. We'll make stops along the Texas coast for starters. Rockport and Galveston are in our future. Haven't decided about Louisiana. I would love some good seafood and I expect we'll find some along the way. Stay tuned for further developments!
Why do folks have to slam their doors? I’ve seen mostly men do it and it’s one noise we can do without in an RV resort. Living this close, the noises your neighbor makes can be annoying!
Another thing that bothers me is folks being talkative right outside our bedroom. Most campgrounds and resorts have quiet time from 2200 until 0800. But almost everywhere you go there are people out getting their daily walk in before 0800 and they yak up a storm with their friends.
I really am looking forward to moving on!

Happy Birthday!
On Sunday we attended one of the largest happy hours I've ever been to! Must have been 50-60 people there. We knew a lot of them and I think we made new friends. The event started about 1600 and was held at Diana and John's site, it's pretty big but even so some folks ended up sitting in the street. It was hosted by Trudy and Don, they wanted to serve up some brats and homemade sauerkraut. Of course everyone brought something (pickled beets) and we had more food than I can describe! Starters that included cheese, crackers, dips and chips. Sides that included potato salad and fiesta salad (black beans, corn etc). Oh, and dessert! cookies and pies. Don also supplied the beer to wash it down.
The weather was super and we had a good time. Once the sun set folks started heading home.
Yesterday after my morning chores of dishes and bed making Jim and I went to Sun Harvest to pick up some groceries then back home we just chilled until the next event which was the Valentine Dance at the clubhouse. The entertainment will be A Party of One. Great guy who sings and plays along with songs we all enjoy

The sunset was pretty spectacular

I fixed a plate of tomatoes drizzled with a pesto dressing and we took a bottle of moscato wine. We danced, we laughed and we had a good time! Our table included Anne and Scotty, Karen and Dave and Linda and Dan. There were strawberries and cheese, meats and crackers to enjoy plus some dark chocolate covered almonds.
Today is Jim's Birthday and he started his day kayaking. I've done a couple loads of laundry and the dishes.
Later we'll head out to Pappadeaux's for dinner with 17 friends!
Happy Birthday my love!

Sunny day
What a week! Last Sunday the temperatures was in the low 80's, Jim and I went biking over to the state park and in the afternoon we went to Retama for the open house
Then winter set in with an Arctic blast of cold weather and we actually had freezing temperatures for 3 days running.
not the best pictures but that's ice on the palm tree
so much ice it flattened our palm!
Yesterday was nice, but today it was spectacular! Anne, Pat and I took a ride over to the state park and had a nice leisurly ride. the hawk tower is still closed

Altamira Oriole enjoying an orange
bees swarming (spring is in the air)
When we got back to the resort we settled on Anne's patio and had a refreshing beer. Scotty and Jim were there and soon Vern joined us. Then Dan arrived and after another beer we called Amy and before you know it we were happy! LOL Happy hour was fun, Anne and I started setting out food and Pat dashed home and brought more so we all had good eats. Meatballs, bread, veggies, chips, cheese and crackers, some pepperoni and no one went hungry. We even had a Boston Creme Pie for dessert
Home before dark and I showered and managed to watch the Super Bowl half time show with the Black Eyed Peas...pretty cool. Don't really care who wins but I do like watching the game
