Days are warming up

Friday

After we left the library we headed to the commissary, this time for a regular grocery run.  There were some veggies we needed and Jim wanted some yogurt......sixty dollars later we headed home...but wait!

We made another stop at the class six to see if we could find me some Thomas Creek, Up the Creek beer.  No such luck, but we did buy some Stella Artois!  A twelve pack for $12.99 and there was a deal going on.  Buy the twelve pack and get a Chalice.  I was talking to the distributor and he said he'd give me two Chalices because he was trying to get rid of them.  Well as we were checking out he said because I was the first sale of the day he'd give me 6!

I already had a Chalice from Steamers Clam Bar and Grill in Cedar Key but it's a 12 oz, the new Chalices are 16 oz.  I love freebies, but now I need to find a place to store them  :-)

Once home I turned on the oven so we could have pizza for our late lunch (Digiorno, $4).  Put our purchases away while Jim walked Boo.  Cold beer and pizza...I love it and it was a cheap meal

We were watching a movie while we ate and apparently once the beer and pizza kicked in Jim needed a nap. While he was snoozing on the bed I lounged and checked my eyelids for holes.

Sat outside with our afternoon coffee. Temperature was around 84.  The campground has been filling up this afternoon and we could see and hear the children playing.  One lady was down by the water playing with her German Shepard, running and tossing a toy into the water.  Looked like both were having fun.

We regularly hear and see Helicopters and I'm sure I'll get a good picture before we leave

This part of Lake Tholocco has quite a few tree stumps, but there is a boat launch and of course you can canoe and kayak.  We've seen several boats out fishing

For dinner on this beautiful evening we had a Caesar salad and corn on the cob.  Jim also had some strawberry shortcake.  My snack was peanut butter and crackers.

Ended up watching the Star Trek movie from 2009, very entertaining on this Friday night.  We even stayed up past our bedtime to see the ending!

finally have WiFi!

Memory is begining to fade....

Is this happening to you too?  I write myself notes so I can remember to blog about them....but half the time I forget to write the note!  I don't know why I can't blog everyday, it's not like I don't have the time...I always promise myself to do better, yet I put it off.

Last Monday Jim worked in the office all day.  The cabins have been standing empty lately, so I guess you'd call this the slow season.  It was sunny but cool, low 60's.  There's a cold front coming and predictions of freezes have me wondering about the winter here.  It's only November and they're predicting a freeze!!!???  Oh Well, time will tell

Tuesday was a rainy start and most of the day was gloomy.  I couldn't put it off any longer, we needed some groceries and I had an order to pick up at Viva la Verde.  I had gotten a sample of pecan butter and needed more.  This concoction is very good!  I even got some for Sonsearae.  So after making the bed and getting dressed I headed to Crescent City.   I was lucky and dodged the rain showers

While I was gone Jim vacuumed and dusted and did the breakfast dishes.  Gotta a love a man who helps with my chores!   Of course this wore him out so he took a nap and missed the appearance of the sun around 1400.

When I defrosted the freezer the other day I found a small steak and had mentioned it to Jim.  So he said he'd like to grill out sometime this week and I had it in my mind that tonight was the night.  The rain had mostly passed and the temperature was nice even if it was dark by the time we have dinner. I fixed twice backed potatoes for us and Jim fired up the grill....don't you know halfway through the cooking process the rain started coming down pretty heavy!  His steak was cooked, whew!  But it meant cleaning the grill was tricky.  Between showers Jim managed to get er done.

Are you a Star Trek fan?  I love most of the series and watch them whenever I can.  Tuesday we watched a couple episodes of The Next Generation

The rain continued off and on all night as this cold front pushed through.  I like it when it rains at night, the gentle sound on the roof is soothing to me.  What about you?  I'm not talking about those storms that rock the rig, but a gentle coming and going of rain pattering on the roof.

plants

Friday I was once again up a 0600.  After a few stretches I enjoyed my coffee while reading and writing blogs.  It was about 70 degrees outside and dark.

Our deck looks good, don't ya think?

The M and M's!  Marigolds and Mum.  Once the buds start opening all three pots should be pretty

While we sat out Thursday enjoying our cold brew we were entertained by the squirrels   This guy arrived with one of the biggest 'nuts' I've ever seen.  Not sure what kind it is but once he discovered the bird feeders he abandoned it.

How's this for fall color?  I'll take it because all to soon nothing will be blooming.

We went for a trike ride this morning...not a long one but it sure felt good and I didn't even break a sweat.

Jim washed the truck and got it tidied up for our trip Saturday to meet up with Sonsearae and Chris.  They're on their way to Orlando to celebrate their anniversary.

I made a pot of minestrone for our dinner. We both sat outside enjoying the lovely weather this afternoon.  I potted up the tomato plant but I need more potting soil before I can continue. The sky started getting cloudy and before long it was overcast.

Don't you know it rained on the clean truck!  Just a piddling shower so it should be easy enough to wipe down in the morning.

After our showers we settled in for an evening of TV.  House Hunters, Star Trek TNG and on Netflix, Inspector Lewis

Weekend in Welaka

Sunday...Jim works most every Sunday.  Makes it hard to plan weekend outings, but I've gotten used to it.  It pays for our site.

Sometime during the night the rain clouds moved out.  Sunshine greeted me when I go out of bed and I only saw a few clouds in the sky.  Of course it means it's very humid outside

Boo has started licking his hair off in a couple spots.  Not good!  On Monday I'll call the vet and make an appointment.  He definitely has an allergy to something.  Our first Yorkie, Jake, was on meds for allergies because he licked all the hair off his paws

Do you write letters?  Send postcards?  I fear the art of writing letters has all but disappeared since email has become second nature to all of us.  Even with email I don't write letters as much as I used to.  Everyone knows about my daily life with Facebook and this blog...so why write letters? My penmanship is not as pretty as it used to be.

Rain, off and on all afternoon.  We had a shower and the sun was shinning!  Liquid sunshine.

Are you a Star Trek fan?  I am and today I started watching Deep Space Nine. I like all the TV series, with the exception of Enterprise.  I should try to watch it again but I just couldn't get into it when it originally aired.  I love the movies!  Each new has bigger and better special effects.

I fixed a black bean soup/stew for our dinner.  Made enough to pack some in the freezer

Monday started with sunshine and it remained sunny all day!  As of 1600 no rain...

This morning I drove into Crescent City to make an appointment for Boo.  I tried phoning but for some reason I cannot complete a phone call in this area code.  The call goes though but we can't hear each other!  Anyway he'll see the vet tomorrow afternoon.

I also stopped in at Winn-Dixie for a few grocery items.  I also tried to mail a package but apparently I was to early for two post offices...they don't open until 0930.  Guess I'll try again tomorrow.

I watched some Deep Space Nine and The Tudors today.  And of course I did my chores....Jim has been working and when he's done today he won't have to go back until next Sunday.

For dinner we had spaghetti with meatballs (vegan), toasted garlic bread and a lovely glass of Chianti classico.  Dishes are done and we've both showered and we're settled in watching Top Gear.

And still no rain!

Why do I eat cheese?

I know it will clog me up and prevent me from sleeping, yet I still eat it!

Yesterday I went shopping with Anne, even though I didn't need much of anything.  Our first stop was Dollar Tree where I managed to find seven things I didn't know I needed!  It is a great place to pick up Charro beans, both Jim and I like those.  And I love buying hand and body lotions for only a buck.

Next stop was Kohl's where we strolled the sales racks and looked at just about every piece of women's clothing in the store....I found five tops that I considered buying.  One was red and gorgeous and fifty bucks!  I did not come home with that one...But I did find three t-shirts I did bring home.  At less than twenty five dollars.  Alas I did not spend enough to earn any Kohl bucks, should have bought that red blouse!

By this time I was starving and even Anne was ready to eat.  We still needed to stop at HEB.  So we decided on Chili's because they have 'fast service'.  Hah!  Apparently not on Sunday.  We got our drink order quickly, but then we waited for the waitress to come back to take our food order and we waited and waited.  Finally!  We ended up ordering nachos (cheese!) and even that simple order took some time.

Next time you're in Chili's look at everything on the menu.  If you're trying to stay away from meat and cheese there isn't a lot to choose from!  I should have ordered a salad but even those come with meat and cheese and I'm sure it would have taken longer to get a special order.

Don't get me wrong, the nachos were good, but meat, cheese and sour cream are not good for me!

Of course we know better than to go to HEB on Sunday but we both needed a few things....well more than a few it turned out.  So we filled our baskets and found a check out lane that wasn't to busy.  We arrived back home just before 1700.

Boo was happy to see me, it was past his dinner time!

Spent the evening watching a Star Trek movie on Fox.  Not a bad way to end the day
