I'm tired of rain...

Jim worked  two and half days this week and it was cold and rainy.  I think I can safely say I've had enough rain!

Today started out gloomy and I checked the weather for several locations and rain was everywhere, so I resolved myself to another day stuck in the house. Did some laundry and the dishes.  Ho-Hum....

Barb and Keith left today.  They were one of the work camper couples and we'll miss them.  They left mid morning and headed north!  I sure hope their travels are safe and warm.

After lunch I decided I needed to get out of the house. Our first stop was buying fuel where we paid $3.82 for diesel.  What does it cost in your area?

I really didn't need anything but we headed to Deland and the Deland Bakery and Natural Market.  I remember one time trying to find it and giving up.  Then the next couple of times we passed it and made a mental note to return.

The next time we stopped...it was closed!  But today it was open and it was nice seeing what they offer and there are items I can get there instead of driving to St Augustine or Jacksonville.

We stopped at Wendy's so Jim could have some lunch. I indulged in some fries.  Our next stop was Walmart, where we drove into the parking lot, then out, it was packed!

We were home by 1630 and Boo was happy to see us.  Fed him and made my coffee and we settled in for the evening.

Yesterday started out foggy, misty, rainy and gloomy...so we decided to go to Jacksonville.  Kathy and John joined us and I'm happy to say that by the time we got to Jacksonville the weather was looking up!  We started to see some blue skies and the sun peeking out here and there.

We stopped at Fresh Market because they we're having a free tasting and of course I bought some groceries and wine!  By the time we got out of there, more blue skies and it was warming up quite nicely.

Our next stop was the St John's Town Center for a late lunch at the California Pizza Kitchen and some window shopping.  I'm here to tell you that by this time it was downright pleasant outside.  This shopping complex is quite large and even though it was Saturday it wasn't crawling with people and we had a good time sauntering about, popping in and out of the stores.

I was after 1700 when we decided to head home with one more stop at Starbucks for coffee.

We drove south on I-95 and watched the sun setting and it was quite pretty because there were some lingering clouds. We managed to pull in around 1840 and called it a night.

I fed Boo,put away our groceries and then I showered.

Today we woke to fog, mist and gloomy skies.....sigh....

So we went to Walmart (that's twice in one week!) to get some jeans for Jim and a few other items.  Stopped at Dunkin' Donuts to use a gift certificate and feed Jim some breakfast.  We both had coffee and Jim got one of their sandwiches with sausage and egg.  Of course I had to have a donut!

The drive to and from Palatka we saw a lot of fog and the St John's river wasn't to be seen in either direction. Once we crossed the river on the return trip there was less fog.

Once home the day just kept getting better and better with the sun coming out in full force.  Sat outside for our afternoon coffee and watched the birds at the feeders.

Now it's time to settle in for the Super Bowl...which team are you picking to win?  We're going with the Bronco's, it should be a good game!

San Antonio, Texas

Apparently writing this blog has not been on my list of things to do! We've been here a few days and we've done a lot of shopping! We went to the North Star Mall our first evening here. Rain? Jim drove through pouring rain in rush hour traffic Friday so we could have dinner at Luciano's. We both like this restaurant and had a lovely meal.

Then we strolled the mall and popped into the Apple store where we purchased not one but two I-Pads. Needless to say we had fun playing with them once we got home.

Saturday morning I was up early enough to view our beautiful sunrise. Jim was too but I think his I-Pad was calling him :)

We spent the morning playing with our new toys and in my case washing sheets and making the bed. After lunch we went shopping! Alamo Quarry was our destination. I needed to have my glasses adjusted and I wanted to stop in at the Whole Foods Market. We had lunch at California Pizza Kitchen. The whole area was packed with shoppers and it was bumper to bumper around the shopping area.
Back home we just relaxed with our new toys and had leftovers for dinner. Oh, it rained again.
Today we spent the morning just hanging around and after lunch we went shopping! Well it didn't start out that way, but we did go to La Cantera, http://www.theshopsatlacantera.com/ to stroll the outdoor shops. I figured it would be fairly safe, if it started to rain we could always duck into a store and wait out any showers! Fortunately it didn't rain. But we did find another Apple store and we both got covers for our I-pads.
On the drive home we ran into some sprinkles and made one more stop at HEB to get a newspaper. It's Sunday and I need my coupons!
We had white beans with sausage over rice for dinner and we've been watching football all evening.
So now you know what we've been doing for the last couple of days. We're staying at the fam camp at Ft Sam Houston and it's pretty nice here. I want to take pictures but it keeps raining.

Vegas Baby!

Yesterday was another busy day! I was up at 0530 due to noisy neighbors making Boo bark who woke me! No matter I got to see the sun come up over the mountain and you know what? You can get a lot done around the house when you get up that early.

Even Jim was up early, 0730 well that's early for him! :) I stripped the bed and started doing laundry. We had breakfast and then Jim took me to Whole Foods Market in Henderson, Nevada. As anyone who knows me, it's my favorite grocery store and I can't remember the last time I was in one.

Once home we had some lunch and then picked up Anne and Scotty. Then we drove into Las Vegas. There's a mountain west of here that has snow on top. Pretty to see, but not able to get pictures due to haze and distance.

I only took one picture of the Hard Rock Cafe. There were loads of picture opportunities but then I'd have missed the sights! The sidewalks were crawling with humanity and I can't imagine getting out and walking around.

We did see a couple members of Kiss, Elvis and Superman and Batman. I assume they were there to point tourists in the right direction and for picture taking.

After we drove up and down the strip we headed to Town Square, a shopping area south of the city and close to the airport. We enjoyed window shopping and we stopped for iced coffee. We found an Apple Store and played with the I-pad for awhile. Then Scotty and Jim headed for an electronic store. Anne was torn, but she decided to stay with me while I shopped at Chico's! I found a pair of white shorts to buy.

It was about time to meet with my friend Carole and her husband so I called Jim and told he to wander back towards the restaurant. We all gathered outside of Borders to await Carole and Steve's arrival.

Once they met up with us we headed to California Pizza Kitchen for dinner. Jim and I had pizza and Caesar salad, Anne and Scotty had the same while Steve had fish taco's and Carole had a pasta dish, they also split a Caesar salad. Lively conversation all around the table! We had a good time and I think we've convinced Carole and Steve to join our lifestyle. :)

We almost forgot to take pictures! This is Steve and Carole. It was truly nice to meet up with my longtime online friend.
We may have to revise our travel plans. Jim has been researching the west coast and the fees to camp are very high. If any of my friends have suggestions, please contact me!
