DeFuniak Springs to Spring Branch Pt 1

On October 9th we left DeFuniak Springs just as  hurricane Michael was getting ready to come ashore east of us.  No, the hurricane didn’t chase us out of town.  We had less than a month to get to Spring Branch.  We’d lingered as long as we could in Florida.  Twin Lakes is a place I could live but it sure is pricey!  The views are worth it just not in our budget.

As we drove west on I-10 the traffic was light in both directions but we did see utility trucks heading east into harms way.  We also saw staging areas at rest stops and a couple of convention centers.  God bless these first responders who leave their loved ones to help normalize stricken areas.

The area needs our help.  It takes a long time to recover from a disaster like this.

Our stop in Gulfport at the US Navy CB base was only three nights.  We had a lovely lunch with Linda and Rick Kasal at Shaggy’s in Long Beach. They were camped over at Bay St Louis.  We met them in the valley at Bentsen Palms RV Resort.

We also had to buy a small dorm fridge.  While in Twin Lakes our refrigerator decided to not work properly.  I think the fan is out.  Anyway we couldn’t get a service person to come out so we just lived with it.  Every few days we’d unload it, store freezer items at the clubhouse and fridge items in cooler.  Then unplug the fridge and let it defrost over night. Then reload the next day.  In Gulfport we got the dorm fridge so we could go through this process again putting freezer items in cooler etc.

Our next stop was Livingston Louisiana for three nights.  Lovely place right off of I-12 just before you get to Baton Rouge.  We’ve stayed a couple times. Again we did the defrost the fridge deal.

I continue to make cards, working on them when I can.  Usually when Jim is napping.  Check out my Paper Craft  page to see more

Stay tuned!

All is right in our world
