Time escapes me sometimes!

I find it hard to believe that the end of November is at hand.

I hope ya'll had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  We had a sumptuous meal of Smoked turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, green bean casserole, sautéed squash and canned cranberry sauce for Jim.  Oh! Also, dinner rolls and homemade bread from neighbors Margarite and Jose.  It was a proper sit down dinner at the table.  For dessert we had cherry and pumpkin pie plus an almond pound cake (made by Jose)

We actually ate quite well for several days.

While at Disney earlier this month I over indulged in some yummy food and spent several days battling gall stones.  Got over it just in time for Thanksgiving!  Jim caught a cold and he's about over it.  If it isn't one thing, it's another!

Changes are happening at Wildwood.  They've been cutting down trees at the golf course and it looks so bare.  Now they're draining the pond and I'm sure the turtles are not happy with that!  Here at the resort new management and we just got an updated list of rules.  That is a step in the right direction.

Hurricane Nicole

Today was a perfect day to stay indoors and do laundry. I stripped the bed and tonight we'll sleep on clean sheets.  Ate leftovers for lunch as I'm trying to clean out the fridge.  We're heading to Disney Sunday.

Hurricanes are always a pain in anyone's life.  It starts with watching the reports, several days in advance of the event.  Should we stay, should we evacuate.  Check and see if we have supplies to weather a power outage (our power did flicker!).  and the worry and stress.  The size of this storm, 600 miles wide caught my interest.  The prediction of where it would make landfall and eventual track covered the whole state of Florida!  Of course, not everyone had the full force of this category 1 storm.  Like us.  We are dry, we have power, so what if we had to stay in all day.  There is a lot of wind damage, power is out and flooding elsewhere.  A1A along Flagler Beach is closed.  The surf was that high!  Of course a lot of the state is still working on the damage from Hurricane Ian.

I got a haircut yesterday.  And we had lunch with Sonsearae at Pepper's Mexican Cantina.  There are quite a few Mexican places to eat in this area.  I don't think we've tried all of them.  We're working on it!

Whenever I make cards, there is always paper that isn't used.  It's to pretty to throw away so I keep strips and when you have some that match you can make a pretty card!

Same for wider strips and squares.  Using dies creates visual interest

Enjoyable weather about to end

We have had some lovely weather this past week or so. It's hard to believe it's November with daytime temperatures rising into the mid 80's and nighttime temperatures in the low 70's.

A beautiful start to our day yesterday....getting up at 0430 you get to wait for sunrise!  Falling back an hour Saturday night must have caused my early rising, sleep is very much overrated!

Speaking of Saturday it was a busy day.  Sonsearae treated me to Afternoon Tea at Charlie Park.  It was so much fun!  Little sandwiches and small bites of scones, shortbread and desserts.  We laughed and cried, probably solved some world problems as we drank the special drinks they served.  Very special!

Afterwards we went back to her house to swap vehicles and pick up Jim to head to the Greek Festival.  Chris opted not to go as he had just returned from his son's wedding in Texas.  The weather was warm and most everyone was enjoying the food and entertainment.  Jim found some food to eat while we ladies just watched him eat.  The Holy Mother of God Greek Orthodox Church hosted the event.  We looked at the some craft booths and saw some of the ladies dressed in traditional clothing

Dust, Dust and more Dust!

Reminds me of the winter we spent in the valley, when they were working on Military Road.  Our 'resort' has the look and feel of a campground.  Despite the Golf Course next door.  The U-shaped road is all dust and sand.  Some of the sites are concrete some are asphalt.  Impossible to keep the truck clean.  Not to mention the rig.  At least the weather is pleasant enough for Jim to wash the truck today.

For our mid-day meal we had red beans and rice.  It was so yummy

Recently Jim saw his oncologist and his lung is still cancer free.  Another checkup in a year but the doctor said this type of cancer shouldn't return.  Great news!

I still have some flowers left but they are looking tired, about as sleepy as this anole!  I couldn't believe he stayed long enough for me to get this picture (one of many) and I had to lay on the cement pad to get this shot.

Did you know bumblebees sleep in flowers?

Yes, I'm still making cards

Lately it's seems like daily I'm cutting and assembling cards.  Gives me something to do when I get up as early as 0430.  Jim doesn't get up until after 0800 some days.  So card making is a quiet pursuit.  I enjoy my coffee while crafting.

Today we enjoyed lunch at Riverside Café on the river and then we headed for a state park only to find it closed!  So off to the St Marks reserve...to find it closed up....reminds me of our friend Ed who liked to take his friends to closed restaurants.  😀

Nevertheless, it was a beautiful day to be out
