More cards

Well another cold front has gone through and today the windows are open and it's spring again.  We did have a couple freezing nights.  First one we let the water drip all night because it was predicted there would be several hours of below 32 degrees.  The second night not so much.  And wind! Yikes that was cold!

Still not going out much.  Mostly for groceries.  We seem to like bread and coffee creamer. And we sure can't do without them.

Do you have Sirius XM?  I just discovered the Elvis station!  It's been really cool listening to all the old tunes.  Check it out!

We did go to BJ's Brewhouse as they had a special on Thursday for ribs and if you spent $14.95 (the cost of the ribs) you could get a free appetizer which is what we did.  Of course we each had a beer.  Jim's ribs came with two sides and a dessert.  My appetizer was a chicken wrap, which was quite tasty.  But I choped up the lettuce and ate it like a salad.

Yesterday Sara Jane called and said if we weren't busy, would we like to go for a mystery ride?  She and Jerry wanted to take us out for Jim's Birthday.  Our first stop was Dairy Queen.  Jim and I both thought that would be good.  But no, that wasn't what we had.  But we did drive around Blanco waiting for the sun to set.  Just as it was getting dark we pulled into a parking spot, walked around the corner and down half a block to Uptown Blanco Restaurant.  New to us and I'm sure we'll go back because the menu is quite nice. Prices are good too, for lunch or dinner.  They do have breakfast and a Brunch on sunday.  No liqour license but you can bring in wine which Jerry carried in.  Perfect for our dinner.  Good food, good wine and wonderful company.  Thank you Sara Jane and Jerry!

My goal again this year is to make 500 cards.

I found some projects to finish.  I really like the dark blue paper and needed to use it.  It has a shiny finish.  Don't know where I got it.  But it paired nicely with this DSP from Stampin' Up!  One side is the bubbly blue/green and the other side is the green

The left card is not my best work...Hard to see but there is green seaweed with a seahorse.  Looks better in person but still to subtle for me.  Stamps and die cuts are Stampin' Up!

These cards are from a paper pad.  12 x 12 paper, two sheets cut and mixed and matched.  All the cut outs are from the pad too.  When you buy the pads, all the papers match and it makes it easy to put cards together.  I did pull out some stamps and enamel dots to decorate.  I miss the beach.

Paper Pumpkin Cards

The sun is trying to make an appearance and it's after two in the afternoon.  Rain woke me this morning so I was up at 0530.  Clouds, clouds and more clouds but no more rain.  Of course this means it will start getting cooler.  Low tonight around the mid 40's.  Good for sleeping!

Haven't been anywhere or done anything since my last post.   Conserving our resources is really boring.  But it's necessary until we get our finances on an even keel.  Looks like this month will be good.  With the help of the gift cards we got when we got our new phones we're not spending much out of pocket for groceries or fuel.

Jim has done some chores for me lately.  Dishes here and there and helping with laundry.  He even got out the vacuum and got rid of some dust.  Our meals have been simple.  Mexican rice can make six servings and we've had it twice the last three days.  Made some spaghetti sauce yesterday that Jim didn't care for.  But he still ate the spaghetti!  I wish the weather would cooperate so we could grill out.  Jim won't do it if it's the least bit cold.

We spend most of our time playing games or watching YouTube videos.  The wifi has been a lot better the last couple of weeks

Can I just say I miss Football?

My goal again this year is to make 500 cards.

These 12 cards are from the
December 2019 Paper Pumpkin Something for Everything kit.  Had I realized how easy and quick they were to make I'd have done them last December!

I can't say I'm thrilled with the design, but the stamps that were included will come in handy for sentiments.  That's the only stamping on the cards.  The rest was peel and stick!  Oh, they have matching envelopes but for some reason I didn't photograph one.  A few sequins here and there and Bob's your uncle...

The following two sets have foil leaves that made photographing them a lot of fun.  At least the swirl on the top set had more coverage

Which set is your favorite?

New Hat!

Jim had a birthday on the 15th.  Rather than go out to eat we had a low country boil cooked up in the Instant Pot.  Corn, potatoes, andouille and shrimp.  He had that for several meals while I only had it twice.  It makes a lot! We liked it, but prefer using Zatarain's Liquid shrimp boil.  Either way it was a treat for me as I shouldn't eat sausage or shrimp.

Sonsearae and Chris sent Jim this spiffy hat.  I think it's a favorite of Chris's.  Jim and I both admire the style and may have mentioned it.  A little more dressy than a baseball cap.  Sonsearae also sent two loaves of secret recipe date nut bread.  We got some at Christmas and she can't share the recipe so I told her she has to send one a month!  It's that good!

I use the original Soy creamer from Silk, it has a little sweetener and it's perfect for my coffee. Around here I can only find it at HEB. I found this Half and Half at Walmart so thought I'd give it a try...no added sugar.  It does give your coffee the creamy half and half mouth feel.  BUT!  It's full of bad fats.  So I guess I'll keep using the Original creamer.  But it is nice to know there are non dairy alternatives for cooking and baking.

Easter is just around the corner so I've started making some cards to mail out.  Echo Park and Stampin' Up! papers and do dads from my stash.  Some Wink of Stella to add sparkle tho I don't think that shows up in the picture

Cold and rainy this morning.  Late last night we had a neighbor pull in.  Felt sorry for them having to set up in the dark.  That sympathy went away when they decided to reposition thier rig at 0600 this morning.  It was dark, it was raining and they woke me up!  Thought they were leaving but the noise kept on and on.  As my friend Ed would say...Grrr

It's 0915 and Jim is sleeping.  Turned off his alarm and snuggled with Boo then went back to sleep.

Guess I'll start on my chores, quietly so as not to disturb the sleeping giant.

This And That

We're still hanging out in Spring Branch.  Daily life is just that, daily chores are done.  Sometimes Jim pops a load of laundry in or does the dishes.  Mostly all indoor chores are done by me.  Tiresome but there you have it.  Jim does the black tank, for which I'm grateful, and cleans the loo.

Haven't been anywhere except the VA and out to get groceries.  Checked out the Dollar General north of here and if you work it right, with coupons and sales, it can be worth the trip.  Green beans were 50 cents a can.

My goal again this year is to make 500 cards.

I've been making cards and being quite messy about it!  These first four are variations on the template I like.

The embossed paper is Stampin' Up! as is the card base.  The rest is from my stash.  Not sure I like the darker background.  What do you think?

Can't left February pass without making Valentine Cards.  All Stampin' Up! except the stamps.

Made this one for Jim, His birthday was the 15th

Made this one for Christy and Rik, they were married on the 14th

These two will remain in my stash until next year

We're in another cold spell.  The last one gave us a night of below freezing.  Sure hope that's the last one.  There were clouds all day and some dizzle.

I Didn't Forget!

Once again we're enjoying winter weather, though not as cold.  Cloudy days and nights have brought us rain.  A shower here a drizzle there.  Of course the dampness makes it feel colder.

On Friday we went to lunch at Antlers.  They have daily specials and our lunch cost leass than $15 with tip!  love it.  Then on Saturday, I think, Sara Jane and Jerry called and wanted to take us to Wine 101.  Had a lovely time sharing a charcuterie board and pizza while drinking adult beverages.

Here is the picture of our new tires!  Between rain and dirty tires it took me awhile to get a decent picture

Jim has chosen today to sleep in.  He got up at 0800 to turn off his alarm and went back to bed.  It's a quarter to 10 as I type this.  Of course he's not missing anything as it's gloomy outside.  I'm watching the birds.  And Boo is snoozing in his bed.

Green, my favorite color

It's winter again!  Woke up to 37 degrees outside and 55 inside.  Not bad but it was chilly and with the furnace and space heater going it warmed up pretty quick.  Must be cozy in here as Jim decided to turn off his alarm and go back to bed.  It's just after 0900 as I type this.

Because of our expensive January we're not venturing out much.  But we enjoyed several day of spring weather and Jim got the truck washed.  My plants enjoyed being outside more than in the compartment, where they reside when temperatures drop below forty.

I'm making sourdough bread again.  I got the starter from King Arthur Flour and fed the little dab for several days until I could make a loaf or two.  We're almost through the first loaf and the second one may remain I the freezer, just so we're not tempted to eat it!  So yummy!

When at the library, one of the DVDs we got was a season of Doc Martin.  British show and it's funny.  Do you utilize your library to get DVDs or books?  You should, it's free!  Our library has classes and teen movie nights.  Of course programs intended for children, but also some for adults.  They teach how to use the various machines they have.  Anyway, you should check out your library.  Could be a learning experience!

I found a random YouTube video that used a sketch by Julee Tilman last fall.  I printed the template which has the website and Julee's name. I made some last November with fall paper.  I've thought of this template many times but just didn't have time to research it and make more.  So today I present you with these!

I love working with bits and pieces and gluing them together.  Stampin' Up! papers which are double sided make this easy.  The only stamping is the butterflies.  I hope you like them

I look forward to making more!  I have some papers cut and ready to play with...

Did you watch the Super Bowl?  Of course we did...I do like football.  It helped that we had a team we could cheer on.  Jim is from Kansas so the Chief's were our pick to win.  And they did!  Halftime was awful, not very family friendly.
