I’ll bet you thought

I dropped off the face of the earth!

Nope, still here in the Rio Grande Valley trying to enjoy this “winter” season.  We’ve actually had a bit of winter weather.  Those Arctic Blasts that get names have been strong enough to reach us.  Lower than normal temperatures for a few days. Usually gloomy days at the beginning and end of each blast of cold air.  A nice day or two, then another cold front slams us.  We even had snow in December and it was a special birthday for me...I like that we had snow on my birthday.  Snow mixed with sleet earlier this month.  These freezing events are gone almost in a blink of an eye, but at least it makes for lively conversations.

We’re not very social so nothing to report on that front.  We’ve attended a few gatherings with friends...  Anne and Scotty also Marilyn and Ed.  I’m sure there were others.

Jim and I eat out more often than we should. The budget can stand it right now because we’re working.  I gained a couple pounds over the holidays and this eating out doesn’t help my waistline!

We had a quiet Christmas, our gifts were from Sonsearae and Chris.  We were gifted edibles!  A hit with both of us. Homemade vanilla extract, Tony’s Clam Chowder, 1905 salad dressing...hmm seems to me there was something else.  Don’t mind me, I just turned 70 and my memory is going downhill!  The chowder and dressing are commercial products but we fell in love with them in our travels.  The chowder reminds us of Cedar Key Florida where the recipe originated.  The dressing is from the Columbia Restaurant in St Augustine.

We did buy ourselves a heated mattress pad and let me tell you, it will keep you warm on those cold winter nights!  We generally don't have heat on overnight for sleeping.

We're beginning to make travel plans.  From here we'll head north then east.  So stay tuned

All is right in our world
