It's been a year

A very hard decision was made and Boo left us a year ago today..

Still hard to let go

We (Jim) finally broke down and got a dedicated Wi-Fi set up.  Tengo net is the park free Wi-Fi and it was not allowing us to stream and sometimes stay online.  Starlink to the rescue!  Jim noticed another rig in the park had it and Jim talked to them about it.  It isn't at full capacity in this part of Florida but it's faster than what we had!  We're able to stream any time we want!  But we still read and game mostly.  And there's always PBS!

This young lady hung around all summer, but alas, found her on the pavement deader than a doornail.  We'll see how many eggs and babies survive until next spring

This dude hung around for awhile too and a smaller one.  But he's long gone

Jim is steadily walking every day.  Completing challenges set by his watch.  He doesn't wheeze as much as he used to and rarely uses the inhaler.  He still sleeps...a lot! I had hoped the c-pap machine would help with this.

It's Official!

Cold weather has arrived.  The last couple of weeks have be so nice with the temperatures slowly teasing us.  But now it's cold!  It was 38 degrees at 0630 this morning.  It's now 0900 and only 48 degrees outside.  But the sun is shining and it should rise into the 60's today.

Jim has been keeping up with his walking.  This watch of his sets goals for the month and every now and then Sonsearae challenges him.  All is well in the health department for both of us.  Though I could use a checkup, it's been about a year.

These cards are from Echo Park

I was gifted some hot peppers.  I have an air fryer that has a dehydrator setting.  So I set them to dry and it took days and days and days...not sure I'll do that again.  I'll just string them up next time!

They still weren't dry at this stage but I whizzed them up in my Vitamix and set them back in the toaster oven on low heat

It yielded about a cup of red pepper flakes.  I use it in Spaghetti sauce and on Pizza.  And where ever I need some heat as it's muy caliente!

Autumn has Arrived

 Aided by a 'trough' of cold air Hurricane Ian devastated Ft Myers and cut a destructive path across the central section of Florida.  We were very fortunate, not so those south of here.  Many lost everything from lives to possessions.  It's going to take many years to recover, especially since I'm sure new building codes will be put into practice.  Just like after Hurricane Katrina.  Each disaster that Mother Nature throws at us we learn how little we humans know.

This cold air has brought us Autumn!  Daytime temperatures are in the 70's and nighttime dips into the upper 40's lower 50's.  Jim is loathe to let summer summer go.  Still wearing shorts and sandals.  Me?  Socks and long pants.  If needed I do switch to shorts in the afternoon.

Made this for a challenge Rustic Harvest from Stampin' Up!

Same challenge, Wonderful World and Orchid Oasis (a new in color.  The white panel has been dry embossed with Painted Texture embossing folder.  I used Wink of Stella to make the flower sparkle

I found this scrap of floral paper and decided to cut into three panels...turned out well don't you think?

Though I still have flowers they took a beating from the strong winds we had because of that strong trough of cold air.  Small price to pay.
