This is for Ed!

We're about as ready as we can be to leave in the morning. Unfortunately Anne and Scotty won't be going with us. They still have to many things to get done before they can leave. But they'll catch up with us on Sunday.

A lot of folks pulled out today and there are wide open spaces here!

this lonely branch says it all....
The flamingos are ready to fly!
On the road again
Just can't wait to get on the road again
The life I love is makin' music with my friends
And I can't wait to get on the road again
On the road again
Goin' places that I've never been
Seein' things that I may never see again,
And I can't wait to get on the road again.
On the road again
Like a band of gypsies we go down the highway
We're the best of friends
Insisting that the world be turnin' our way
And our way
Is on the road again
Just can't wait to get on the road again
The life I love is makin' music with my friends
And I can't wait to get on the road again
On the road again
Like a band of gypsies we go down the highway
We're the best of friends
Insisting that the world be turnin' our way
And our way
Is on the road again
Just can't wait to get on the road again
The life I love is makin' music with my friends
And I can't wait to get on the road again
And I can't wait to get on the road again

What a difference a day makes

Yesterday started with a real pretty sunrise. A little chilly outside but it was lovely to see

Jim helped Scotty dismantle his patio and that didn't take to long. I found Broken Arrow with James Stewart and watched that. It's the movie where I got Sonsearae's name. I love that movie! After lunch we both watched Bond movies

Our screen room gives us extra living space and the patio looks naked when the screens are down.

Miss Anne was being funny for the camera and she'll probably berate me for posting this picture!
Last night we had our First In Last Blast Party! The managers Jeni and Dan invited us down to their place for burgers and hot dogs. The rest of us brought the sides, slaw, potato salad, macaroni salad, beans and a cake. Of course our chairs and drinks....

We had a good time til well after dark and when we left we were feeling no pain! When we got home we were surprised that it was almost 2100!

Rapidly passing days!

Only a few days left before we leave. The resort is emptying out as friends a neighbors leave. Some are heading home, like Karen and Dave who left this morning. They'll make a stop to visit Karen's brother then head for Michigan where they live.

Jim dismantled our patio yesterday, taking down all the screens. Looks bare out there without our extra room.

Not sure if I posted a picture of my pony tail palm. We've decided to leave the cactus pot behind. It will be well taken care of and we'll reclaim it when we return to Bentsen Palm RV Resort in October.
Spring is here and more and more each day we see blooms. Anne and I saw some Texas Bluebells on highway 83 in Pinitas. I've never seen them in the wild.

After working hard all day Jim grilled our dinner last night. Chicken and zucchini. It sure was yummy. Sliced tomatoes to top it and a couple garlic olives.
Our evening was spent watching TV and playing games on the computers.

Getting ready to travel

You know, when you sit still for almost 6 months you get sloppy! Do dads and what nots need to be put away. I can be messy with my books and magazines and they need to be read and disposed of. I have whittled my stack of magazines to nothing. But the books, that's another story!

Now that the time is nearing for our departure we have to tidy up and stow things. That's what we've both been doing for the past week. Doing chores that should have been done long ago. Making sure when we hook up and roll that nothing is out of place. To make matters worse, the weather has been warm and pleasant! Who wants to work when it's so nice?

We read the blogs of a lot of friends and some are rolling and we can't wait to join them!

Yesterday was the last Margarita Hour at the clubhouse. I think most everyone had a good time, especially when they started serving Margarita's on the house and extended the 'hour'. I'm sure the staff is looking forward to some down time!

We've only mapped out a few stops on our trip west so you'll have to stay tuned for our travels!

More Flowers

Can't really say I did much today. Just little chores that come with our daily life. Bed making, dishes, cooking.

We did make a run to Lowe's with the Scott's. Jim picked up the clips he needed for the screen door window. Which he attached after we got home.

I took all of these pictures at Lowe's

this is peach tree! I've never seen one in bloom, the purple/pink flowers are pretty.
love the yellow and orange together.

the petunias were looking lush

Flowering pear trees made a nice shot against the blue skies we had today

another peach tree

this was called a potato vine tree...the white flowers are simple but gorgeous against the green leaves.

The pink hydrangeas were big!
Once we got home I watched my soaps and gave Boo a bath. For dinner Jim grilled chicken while I made oven fries and a salad of chick peas, olives, tomatoes and cucumbers with just a wee bit of lemon juice. We ate everything on our plates...

flowers, I think it's spring!

This first picture is of the cactus that took a beating last summer in Colorado Springs in two hail storms!
it's not the prettiest cactus but it is blooming!
Anne and I went for a walk last night after dinner and we found some pretty flowers. This is a good time to be in the Rio Grande Valley

It was a busy day today. Before Breakfast I put a corned beef brisket along with some potatoes, carrots and onions in the crock pot. Jim and Scotty drove out to pick up our screen door. It had been dropped off to get some 'plastic' windows cut for it. While they were gone Anne and I went shopping. Only picked up a few things, the trip was mostly to get out of the house.
Found these flowers in front of the Dollar Store...Spring is popping out all over.
Jim was home when we got back he was putting the panel on the screen door. But alas one piece was left behind. So he had to make a return trip to pick it up. I put the cabbage in the crock pot to cook.

It only has the bottom panel and the small one in the center installed. He needs some clips so we can install the top one and remove it when we want to. It will come in handy when we turn on the air conditioner!
Anne and I got our hair cut today for the last time here. When we got home Jim had set the table and all I had to do was dish up our dinner. We ate on the patio and despite the gnats it was pleasant. I must say that we all ate well! It was sooooo good! We even had some Killian's Red to wash it down with. For dessert we had apple turnovers and we ate all four of them. Can you say stuffed? LOL
Whether or not you're Irish I hope you enjoyed your day. We did

Nde Daa Spring Pow Wow

After a wonderful night of sleep I was up around 0730 and Jim was up about an hour later. After breakfast I stripped the bed and started doing laundry. About this time Anne stopped over and asked if we wanted to go to a Pow Wow. We agreed it would be fun, so we made our plans. Subway for lunch and we would tailgate at the Pow Wow.

Jim needed to shave and we both needed to change clothes. Jim and Scotty headed to Subway to pick up our lunch and I stayed home to continue with the laundry and wait for Anne to get out of line dancing. We wanted to be at the Pow Wow in time for the Grand Entry at 1300.

We headed out around 1215 and arrived in plenty of time to eat our lunch before heading indoors. Finding a parking space was interesting because the event was being held at the Lark Community Center and Library in McAllen. We lucked out because someone was leaving and we snagged their spot.

Once inside the gymnasium we found some seats on the bleachers and settled in to listen to a storyteller. Around the other three walls there were tables set up with vendors selling crafts.

The Grand Entry was quite interesting even if it did start later than we expected. I can't begin to tell you all that was said and done. But I took some pictures to share with you.

All the dancers showed the crowd how it's done! And from the look of it they enjoyed themselves.

On the way home we made a stop at Sonic and Jim and I got something called a Java Mocha Chiller and Anne got a Vanilla shake.
Once home we changed into comfy clothes and sat outside. Jim, Dave and Scotty practiced on their dulcimers while Anne and I relaxed and listened.

Dave had left by the time I decided to take a picture.
All in all it was a good day.

Sun At Last!

Last night we slept with the ac on. Using just the quilt and we both slept great! We may have to try that tonight.

I had another medical appointment this morning, the dreaded mammogram....Anne drove me so we could go to Feldmans for some Booze, lunch out and picking up some groceries. Well we got the booze but no lunch out. Scotty needed some wax for the roof of his rig and he was on a roll.

We stopped at Walmart for the wax and headed home. We were both hungry so we just ate at home. Saved some money I guess.

Jim was down off our roof, he got it washed and got the back end washed. He figures if he does a bit at a time it will get done before we leave the valley.

This is the rose bush outside our door, it is loaded with buds and each day more roses open.

After lunch Anne and I headed to Walmart over in Pinitas. We had fun looking at clothes, dishes, rugs and appliances. Then we got serious and picked up our groceries. Next stop was the post office, then home.

I had time to put away my purchases, make burger patties and cook some Brussel sprouts. Then it was next door for some iced coffee with Kahlua! Since the sun had been out all afternoon we needed a cold drink to cool off.

within the hour no one cared if we ate but we had the food ready so Jim got the grill going and Anne cooked some tater tots and I sauteed the sprouts. Before long we had our plates filled with good food and guess what? We cleaned up our plates. We also had some grilled pineapple for dessert.

Then it was home to do the dishes. But we didn't have hot water so Anne and I went for a walk to take advantage of the nice weather. While out I found more flowers to share with you.

the citrus trees are blooming, I think this is an orange tree

Not sure what this bush is called, but it sure is pretty

this is a red rose although the color is a bit off

I used to know the name of this tree, but it escapes me just now. The yellow flowers are coming out more each day.
We stopped to visit with Karen and Dave. They're hosting a spaghetti dinner for our group tomorrow and we checked on the time.
Got home to find Jim had done the dishes for me! Washed, dried and put away. Thanks sweetie, I love you!
We watched NCIS and the NCIS show that follows it. Now White Collar on USA.

cloudy skies and warmer temperatures

Not much going on around here to get excited about. Yesterday we along with Anne and Scotty drove over to La Hoya High School and spent a wonderful two hours watching the talented teens dance and perform. Did I have energy like that when I was in high school? There were dances from around the world and the Mariachi band performed regional tunes. Their Folklorico program is fantastic! The Fine Arts department has talented and insightful leaders. They do this every year and I can't wait to see what's in store for next year.

When we left there we headed to Pizza Hut for beer and pizza. We had a good time and I for one stuffed myself! There were left overs to bring home. Ten bucks for a large pizza is a good deal.

Spring is here! We're greening out and flowers are popping up all over the place. The roses especially are gorgeous. The freezes didn't seem to affect them at all.
This bush is beginning to blossom out. not sure what the name is. but orange flowers on silver leaves it makes for a pretty bush

This rose just begged me to take a picture of it! :)
This morning I saw my doctor and was given the good news that my cholesterol numbers are way better than last December..so for the time being I don't need to take medication as he suggested last time I saw him. I have to go back in November.

This and That

I had an early appointment at the VA center so last night we set an alarm. Awful way to wake up! I'm so glad we don't have to do that often... :)

My appointment didn't take long and soon we were on the road home. Since I didn't have breakfast before we left we decided to have breakfast at Mimi's Cafe. Mind you, Jim did have a bowl of cereal along with his coffee before we left the house.

Jim had French Toast, eggs and bacon, coffee and orange juice.
I had a egg white omelet with sliced tomato and tomato juice. Oh and hot green tea.
After our lovely breakfast we headed home. After changing into our 'lounging around' clothes we checked our emails and caught up with friends on their blogs. I made the bed and did the dishes. Jim headed over to the wood shop and worked on a music stand for a couple hours.
With such a big, late breakfast we really didn't have a need for lunch. I snacked on some nuts while I watched my soaps. The day was damp and overcast so I decided to make some biscotti to go with my afternoon coffee. Anne and Scotty came over and joined us for this snack.
For dinner we joined the Scott's for pulled pork, slaw and beans. I made some bread sticks and we took a bottle of wine. Everything was tasty!
Tonight we went to the clubhouse to see and listen to Bo Rivers, http://boriversmusic.com/. Quite entertaining!

I took this picture right before we left and it's a bit dark because it was getting dark outside. But I loved the raindrops on the leaves. Spring is in the air!
