Panacea, Florida

I was up at 0620 this morning! I guess you could say I was excited about our destination today. The Scotts were up early too and by golly we got on the road before 0900! That's a first for us, but we had a slow drive and a time change to get through.

Driving along Hwy 98 along Florida's Panhandle is fun, beautiful and slow. We didn't mind the slower pace because the scenery is spectacular! Our drive through Pensacola was easier than I thought it would be. Being Saturday helped.

We made a stop at a Walmart parking lot around 1030 and as long as we were there Anne went shopping....We all had a bite to eat and headed east. We didn't stop again until we reached Port St Joe where we said goodbye to our friends Anne and Scotty. We met their family, chatted for a bit and then parted from our dear friends. We may see them again in a week but for sure we'll see them in Mission come October.

Once we got closer to Panacea we were instructed to call Sonsearae, but she beat us to the punch! She called just as she was finishing up work at the Panacea Post Office and just met us at the Holiday Campground, http://www.holidaycampground.com/. How refreshing to be met by a smiling face you know!

Jim paid our fee and backed into our site without a problem. You'll understand why I say this when I post pictures tomorrow. While setting up I noticed tread was missing from our right side rear trailer tire. We'll have to call about it and have the tire replaced while we're here.

He did have to rehitch and pull forward because I had a slide to close to a tree. Shortly after we set up Chris arrived with dinner. Tacos with all the trimmings and key lime pie for dessert. Sonsearae and Chris stayed until just before dark. It was fun talking and seeing them both.

Once they left we finished tidying up and we both showered. Boo is sleeping and it looks like we will be joining him soon.

It's been a long day and we look forward to being here for two weeks.
