Laughlin, Nevada

Yesterday we left Salome, Arizona at a decent hour under sunny skies. The trip to Laughlin was uneventful except for a wrong turn. The drive north took us through California and the Mohave Dessert.

We stopped in California for lunch and now I can say I've been to California! Thanks Anne for the picture.

These are the San Bernadino Mountains I assume as we were in San Bernadino County.

Jim remarked that it looked like Arizona but I think the terrain is more rocky here. I noticed a lot of gravel and a lack of cacti. But I guess a desert is a desert is a desert!
After we were set up Jim and I showered and joined the Scott's for a tour of the Riverside Casino. We got a bite to eat at the Chinese restaurant inside the Riverside Casino. Afterwards we strolled along the riverwalk and went in and out of some of the casinos. Jim signed up for a couple club cards even though we don't gamble. But you can get discounts on the eateries. It was a nice walk but I've been on prettier riverwalks. Of course we all enjoyed the Colorado River, Anne even stuck her toes in it and declared it cold! Our last stop was the Colorado Belle casino and we stopped in for a cold beer. Anne opted for water. All that walking made me thirsty.
Back home we settled in for the rest of the evening. some TV, some computing and bed just a wee bit earlier, we were pooped. during the night the wind started blowing and it's still blowing as I type this.
