This Past Week

Has gone by quickly!  Besides the normal chores of everyday life we've spent time with Sonsearae and Chris.

Jim has been taking advantage of the nice weather and pressure washing the rig.  Something that hasn't been done since last summer in Vermont.  For obvious reasons he couldn't handle the weight of hauling the washer around.  Or climbing on the roof.

Sonsearae has Thursday and Friday's off and the three of us usually go shopping.  Last Thursday we went to West Palm Beach.  I needed to enroll in the VA facility so we made the trip of about 50 miles.  In order to be seen or make an appointment at the VA you have to enroll at each facility.  It's not difficult but explaining our lifestyle is!  No matter, I have an appointment at the end of this month.  I just wanted to get some lab work done and have my hip checked.  This getting older is for the birds!

After that stop we headed to Pirate's Well for a spot of lunch.  Interesting place and the food was pretty good.  Typical bar foods and draft beer.  Then it was time for shopping!

Little did we know, but the day before a new Whole Foods Market opened and poor Jim was left to entertain himself while we ladies strolled every aisle of the store.  Our daughter likes to grocery shop as much as her mother and we spent quality time looking at new products, old products and buying items we 'needed'!

Rain had been predicted but it avoided us until later that night.  A front came through and we had some rain Friday  and cooler temperatures that made us all just stay inside.....But it got worse that night and Saturday when Jim and I went to Barnes and Nobles and the Treasure Coast Mall we saw evidence of the flooding.  According to the paper some areas got as much as 11 inches in 6 hours.  Just like being back in New Orleans!

Saturday afternoon Martin Correctional Institution had a family day for the staff.  They had a chili cook off (5 pots of yummy smelling chili), some arts and crafts for the children, corn hole for a donation and for a price you could pick the officer and pie him or her with a whipped cream pie!  That was a favorite among the adults and our son in law Chris (warden) had himself a facial!

I'm not sure about all the details, but they raised some money for a cause and the staff got to have fun and interact outside of the work place.  I understand this may be a monthly thing and should prove to be fun for all those who participate.

We didn't stay for the duration because it was supposed to go on all afternoon and well into the night so all shifts could join in.  Judging by the photos on Facebook it was a success!

Today Jim and I went into Stuart to pick up our CSA box of veggies.  Lettuce, cauliflower, strawberries, broccoli, onions, sugar snap peas and spinach.  We share this with Sonsearae.  Once we picked up the goodies at the Green Market we walked the boardwalk over to the marina and back.  It's a lovely walk and we get to be on the St Lucie River and see a lot of neat boats!  Our route is about a mile and a half (with a stop halfway) and by the time we arrived back at the truck I was ready to get out of the heat.

We stopped and had lunch at Mayas Mexican Restaurant.  Our first time there and it was good

Back home Jim napped and I checked my eyelids for leaks.  We need to stop having beer with our lunch!

All is right in our world!
